NEW OC Drupal MEETUP Event!
For the last 2 months Mike Stewart from Media Done Right has been organizing a well received meetup in Long Beach. I know some of us cannot make this unique Drupal meetup because of the distance.
So we decided to try and add a new monthly event that mimics this meetup directive in Long Beach on the same day. We also plan on using a Google+ Hangout to communicate between the meetups! (is this a Drupal First!?)
Meetup Location:
This will be located at a new spot for OC Drupal people.
Collab Space (http://collaboc.com/) has offered to let us host an event free of charge on Wed. February 1st.
If anybody is looking for a Co-Working location in OC with awesome rates, come check them out! They offer a free 1-day trial, you have nothing to lose.
Collab Space
3151 Airway Ave
Costa Mesa, CA 92626
Meeting Directive
We will be focusing on collectively contributing to Drupal.
Learn how to:
- test/write patches,
- write documentation,
- debug themes and modules alike,
- code sprint and more!
This is a working meetup. Come teach others to contribute by letting them watch you. Come learn by watching and participating. Post issue suggestions in comments below.
Newbies are welcome! Come see community in action!
Be apart of the "Do-ocracy" that is Drupal.
When:
Wednesday, Feb 1, 2012 :: 6:30pm - 9:30pm (at the latest, we are being kicked out then.)
Doors are open during the day for their normal business hours, come early to check out the spot, get some working or help setup & chat.
Please RSVP.

Nice, I've added Collab Space
Nice, I've added Collab Space to the coworking wiki at http://groups.drupal.org/coworking/wiki/spaces
Collab Space sounds awesome. They're using Drupal, too: http://collaboc.com/misc/druplicon.png
I think it's a first for California. We opened a transmeetup portal between Boston and Miami using Skype a few years ago but the sound didn't work very well. Using Google+ Hangouts is a great idea. I hope they remain free for a long time.
Thanks for adding them to the
Thanks for adding them to the Wiki.
Julie, one of the founders, is really helpful. I suggest you give her a ring... They have a great OC location, and are gearing the space to disciplined developers/designers. I believe there is potential synergy there.
As for the telemeeting, yes, this will be a test of configurations and patience :). The audio in google has been pretty spot on as long as the clients have solid connections. It's worth the try.
Got any contrib suggestions we should try and tackle?
suggestion
so glad you asked =) ...

Looks like one of the MOD's replied with a valid reply.
Patching Pressflow is going to be a little farther out of scope than I was hoping for.
Ali, I think it would be fun
Ali,
I think it would be fun to spend a night learning some Ubercart code, and some Object PHP code. Be great to have under the belt, so to speak.
Is there a typical method of fixing "Undefined property" messages? I ask, as TR seems like a nice Drupalite, and might tell us if there is. Be a great shortcut to fix it right the first time?
Seems like adding an explicit property declaration would work. I did not look at the code. You need these fixed? For your Pressflow site? And last, and most significant, seems TR volunteered to fix any you email them. Would that work for you?
What I see happening next, is having a list (even a short one) and present it to TR, asking what time frame could patches be expected in? Then, ask if LA members might work off a few of them at our Long Beach Contrib meeting. Getting them first "assigned" to us, with advanced knowledge of the Ubercart owners, would grease the skids to having our patches accepted. Otherwise, might it be work for naught?

Thanks Pete
I've been dropping patches as I came across notices for Ubercart and the UC contrib modules. I posted it here as a suggestion in case there was any interest to help move UC towards E_ALL compliance because I heard that going forward future PHP versions would be more strict about this and TR said that any patches for this would be welcome. Since people here were looking for something to work on, I felt this would be easy enough (albeit repetitive at times) for beginners although I prefer BTMash's suggestion about the novice queue as a good place to find beginner issues.
Think I should be able to join
Now that my situation is all sorted out, I think I should be able to join on Wednesday (atleast until 8pm or so anyways).
As for issues ... since this is an introduction to helping on Drupal, why not just look at the novice issue queue? These are issues that people new to contributing to Drupal should be able to help out on more easily. As more and more contrib modules start to use the novice tag, people should be able to find more and more fun places to start helping out at. vmi suggested ubercart (so we now have an ecommerce track where people could work on ubercart/commerce related issues) - what are other modules / aspects of drupal that interest you? Let's get a list going so it'll be easier to find issues that fit your interests :)
Good Call - listing
BTMash,
First off... glad to hear things are stabilized. :)
I am open to any ideas as far as creating somewhat of a work list.
I agree, If we had this list to work from, it would make the sessions much more productive.
my interests are:
anyone else?
Sounds like it shaping up to
Sounds like it shaping up to be a great joint contrib meetup with LB Drupal.
You may get rather new people from the OC new to contributing to Drupal or patches. Having a list of what people might need (ie. setting up their profile and git) or links to references might be good beforehand. Just so this doesn't take an enormous amount of time Weds. We should also block out 15 minutes to next meetup to a lightning talk on contributing.
Thanks Mario!

Thanks for posting the google hangout details.
Ubercart sounds like a great starting point to get our hands warm.
On the same note, I would like to discuss an issue I am working on in regards to adding permissions depth to the UC-hotel module.
Looking forward to my first visit to the google hangout.
Preeti..
Test-bot passed
We worked on back porting http://drupal.org/node/838800 to D7.x. Test-bot passed, and verified by philoSurfer; now RTBC!

We had started off on
We had started off on http://drupal.org/node/400450. While the tests passed, philosurfer and the OC group had some suggestions on what the patch needs. He needs to post up on it (I think node module could possibly use hook_modules_disabled to accomplish some of the ideas)
