On Sunday October 13, 2013, the Droplabs family is heading down to Alpine Village in Torrance to celebrate Oktoberfest 2013!

We will be meeting at Droplabs at 12:30 pm and leaving promptly at 1:00 pm.

You may also make your own way to the event and join us there.

Sundays are family days with kiddie jumpers, sweet treats and games, so bring the kids.

Our Droptoberfest festivities will end at approximately 6:00 pm, or when the last one of us leaves, whichever happens first.

Alpine Village is the home of the oldest and largest Oktoberfest celebration in Southern California. Traditional Bavarian fun is supplied by Oom Pah Pah big bands flown in direct from Germany, your belly is sated by traditional German fare, and your thirst is quenched by delicious German beers. They deliver an authentic Oktoberfest to you each and every year…and all within 10 miles of Southern California’s beautiful beaches! The bier sponsors for the event are Warsteiner and Konig Ludwig who produce some of the finest brews the old world has to offer. Oktoberfest is full of Oom-pah-pah music, contests, sing-a-longs, bier prosting and of course the chicken dance.

Admission to Oktoberfest Sundays is only $5.00

DESIGNATED DRIVER PROGRAM: The Alpine Village seeks to encourage responsible drinking in all of its business units. This designated driver program is part of the plan to encourage our patrons to plan for a safe, sober ride home after the event. Designated drivers can purchase special tickets online or at the gate for which they receive complimentary beverages (every day). In addition, those volunteering to be designated drivers shall receive a complimentary one week pass to Droplabs, a neon green armband, and reimbursed entry fee courtesy of Droplabs.

The designated drivers must agree to the following:
They will not consume any alcoholic beverage at or immediately before the event. If they do so, they will be asked to leave the event.
They must have a valid drivers license and present the drivers license at the entrance
They certify that they are driving home at least one other person who is attending the event
Designated driver tickets are non-transferrable
Designated drivers will be identified by a special neon green armband. They will also be given the wristband at the entrance gate once they have demonstrated to Alpine staff that they have a valid drivers license and are not under the influence at the time of entry.

Someone who'd like to go just told me he'd only be able to go if there was a van or bus.

What say you, possible Droptoberfest-goers? Shall we hire a driver?

Transportation Options

I think for this year we should stick with car pooling from Droplabs using designated drivers, and some may certainly rent a car and driver for the day in lieu of wrangling a designated driver. Individuals needing a ride should post here and request a spot in one of the cars making the trip. Those driving and having an extra seat should also post here. If the number of requests outnumbers available seats renting a van or hiring a limo is an option.

Looking forward to seeing everyone have a safe and fun time.
