DrupalCamp Montreal 2011: Registration Open and a Call for Session Proposals

Hello everyone,

Montreal's 4th annual DrupalCamp is open for registration at http://www.drupalcampmontreal.com. We are once again running and education track and are looking for session proposals.

This year's camp takes place between the 16th and 18th of September at the McIntyre Medical Building on the McGill University campus here in Montreal. Our Keynote speakers this year are Drupal 7 co-maintainer Angie 'webchick' Byron and HTML5 evangelist Jen Simmons. Gábor Hojtsy, the co-maintainer of Drupal 6 will also be leading a related internationalization code sprint running from the 14th through to the end of the camp. We expect to have more than 30 sessions running in simultaneous tracks as well as both free and paid training occurring on the Friday afternoon.

We're open any session topics that relate to education including Drupal as a CMS for higher-ed, Drupal as an LMS, strategies for deployment, scalability and support, etc.

If you have any questions whatsoever, please do not hesitate to ask.

Many thanks,

Andrew Lindsay

Brighton Digital Festival Event - Drupal Discovery Day

Hi,

We needed to get the details in by the end of the day today which I've just managed to do so thought I'd post here so you all know what's going on, hopefully some of you will come along / help out / spread the word!!! We have some interest from sponsors already (us three so far lol) - I'm also going to apply for https://association.drupal.org/grants which would be cool!

This is a great opportunity for us to spread the word about Drupal and be part of a month-long celebration of digital stuff in Brighton - an opportunity not to be missed! http://brightondigitalfestival.co.uk/

Programmes and Courses Catalogue

I want to create a programmes and courses catalogue. To achieve this I am thinking these steps :

  1. Create a content type which contains the programme's details and named it Programme, eg. Bachelor of Engineering.
  2. Create another content type which refer the programme as a parent and named it Course, eg. Electronics Lab.
  3. Add another reference where the course have dependencies with another course, eg. Electronics Methodologies (a dependency of Electronics Lab)

Is there any module for this or any other way?

Drupal LMS distribution

Posting to inform the Australian group about http://eduglu.com/ it seems there is a lot of people within Australia that have not heard of this distro. Please get on and have a look as it is an amazing distro and shoud at least be reviewed when you are looking at an LMS.

@kylematthews is the creator of edu glu, please have a look and consider helping out on the project, which can be as simple as downloading it and having a play and reporting issues or your use to Kyle.

Request for Assistance: Drupal Set-Up for Two Non-Profits

I am totally new to Drupal and unsure how to set Drupal up in a way that makes sense for multiple non-profit orgs helping the poor and marginalized here in Columbia, Mo. I would like to connect with someone who can help me build up a stable Web presence such that multiple people can contribute to a site but it retains its "non-Drupal appearance" (at least to some degree) and allows for a singular editorial voice.

Drupal cxo on training versus educating

During Drupal cxo in Brussels we had several interesting session on training. In a personal reflection about the discussions I would like to give my understanding how we could get more young people (students) into Drupal via education.

I'm looking forward to your opinion about this reflection.
