Downtown Drupal Webcast on October 7, 2014: Drupal Show & Tell and Mobile Development Boot Camp Planning
The 1st Tuesday of the month is here and it's time for another Downtown Drupal meetup! Join us via webcast on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 between 7-9pm Pacific.
Webcast URL: https://glad.zoom.us/j/314665870
Are you new to Drupal or the Downtown Drupal meetup? Come learn about Drupal and how others like yourself are using it for their project, business or organization. We promise not to talk down to you.
Drupal Show & Tell
At this online meetup we're having another show and tell. We'll have some quick introductions, news and announcements, and then we'll be going into 5-minute presentations (called lightning talks) on the projects that each person is working on.
Did you recently attend a great Drupal or tech event that you want to tell us about? Are you currently having a problem that you need help with? Did you solve a problem recently and now have a solution to share with the group? You'll have up to 5 minutes to present and then up to 5 more minutes for Q&A with the other attendees.
Mobile Development Boot Camp
We're also going to be discussing the upcoming Mobile Development Boot Camp (planned for January, 2015) and how we're building on the previous boot camp that Droplabs hosted in 2013. The mobile boot camp will be all about creating mobile apps and connecting them with your Drupal site. Tune in to hear all about it and how you can get ready.

We won't be able to get to everyone, but everyone who attends will be expected to present on something.

We'll be using a chess clock to make sure that everyone has enough time.
That's right, it's like Drupal speed chess! (The difference, of course, is that we're not really competing. We're here to share and learn and not "smack down" anybody.)

We have a great meetup this month in the San Gabriel Valley. Join us from 6-8pm at Fuller Theological Seminary, Glasser 110 on Thursday, April 24, 2014, for Drupal news and announcements, local job announcements, raffle prizes, community Q&A, lightning talks and full-length presentations.
This meeting has a featured Drupal Hosting Shootout presentation and discussion. We'll be reviewing various Drupal hosting options, including Acquia, Pantheon, OpenShift, WebEnabled and Platform (which we had a sneek peek of two weeks ago at the Downtown Drupal Meetup).
There's a lot of variety in the Drupal "software as a service" space and we'll also review other people's reviews, including Hosting options for Drupal: Acquia vs Pantheon vs Rackspace Cloud and Best Bang for No Bucks: A Comparison of Free Drupal Hosting Platforms.

It is a pretty good turn out with 11 people considering it is in Pasadena right around rush hours. People are just terrific, very friendly and ready to help others. Feels like I have moved forward by leaps and bounds. Thanks everyone!
