How to embed a view into a node?

I was wondering if someone could recommend the best way to embed a view (related articles, etc...) in the body of a node... similar to how the Onion does it in the attached screenshot.

Thank you.

URL redirect for 3rd party pages and search issue

We are using a 3rd party service to host some of our online contests and I have those wrapped in our layout simply by placing a piece of text in the body of a page. The 3rd party service then accesses the page's url for branding.

Then, instead of using the contest engine URL, I have the contest page redirected to something more palatable (www.scvbj.com/2010-scv-top-51).

My problem occurs when people attempt to search for the contest from within the site. When they search for "top 51", they are presented with a link that takes them to the blank page that is used to wrap the contest.

Cleaning up after spammers

If you allow public registration for commenting and/or blogging, it won't be long before you discover spammers abusing your system.

Tools like Mollom help a lot, but they won't catch everything. You need to check your registrations at least every morning and clean up the mess. If you let it get out of control, your site will become a favorite for SEO spammers, many of whom are paid a piece rate for posting links on websites.

Selling online content organized by issues

Hi there.

After posting on the support forum and on the Ubercart website, I beleive this is the right place to discuss my problem.

We are a magazine that comes out "hand made" in a PDF format. For the time being, we only deliver to subscribers by email.

I’m trying to develop our web site using Drupal and Ubercart. A part of our content is free and can be seen by anonymous users. The other part is not free.

We are organizing our online content by issues just like the way it’s done on the physical support: issue_1, issue_2 .. etc. For this we use taxonomy.

iso-8859-1 standard RSS feed...?

How do I make an RSS feed encode using iso-8859-1 standard instead of utf-8?

Also, does someone know how to place the [img src] attribute from the feed description into a separate tag/attribute?

I'm trying to prepare an RSS feed for an iPhone app and they need the RSS formatted this way.

Here is a link to a current feed: http://www.scvbj.com/rss/articles/coverstory

Thank you very much.

Looking for some ideas on how to sort stories

Hi, I am in the process of making an online newspaper. What Im hoping to be able to do is have stories fed into my site from The Associated Press. Assuming I figure a way of how to do that I will need a way to properly display the stories. Currently (for my test stories) I use views to sort the articles by date posted in descending order. This will work to keep my content fresh and display the most current stories, but I want the "most important" most recent story to be at the top of the list.

Best way to organize blogs on the newspaper site

What is the best way to organize blogs on the newspaper site?

Media companies being different beings have a different set of requrements:

  • multi-user blogs (many users can post to one blog, and no other blogs)
  • site-wide "web editors" that have ability to change any post on any blog

At the moment, it looks like Organic Groups is the only solution.

Have anybody done anything like that?

Create magazine structure, articles organised by issue

Hi there

I'm trying to do something I thought was pretty simple - organise content by issue.

I've got as far as having node types of issue and article.

I've created taxonomy of issues and assigned articles to issues.

I could create a view by filtering article nodes for the issue number but then id have to create a new view everytime i created an issue which i guess isn't that efficient?

So how do i go about it? do i have to put something in a custom template?

I thought I might be able to find a tutorial on this but my googling skills have let me down!

Easiest way to charge for individual stories in "Archive" workflow status?

Our newspaper is planning to go to a partial pay wall in a few months; one of the options we are considering is charging for archives.

Archived stories are defined as those that have the "Archive" workflow status assigned to them (we have a Rule set up that sends stories from Public status to Archive status after seven days).

At the moment, registered (authenticated, logged-in) users can read archived stories, and there is no cost for registration.

What would be the simplest way to charge per story for access to archived stories?
