I plan to run a Drupal 8 Toolbar and Admin Information Architecture research study, to inform any improvements to the current Drupal 8 admin IA. The target participant is a site builder and/or heavy content creator.

But first, what questions do you (or people you work with) want to know about the current IA? How people are using? When they are using? From what devices? Etc etc.

Put all your questions you'd like to answered by this study in the comments below. If there are duplicate questions, great! That will help inform priorities.

Over the past months as we worked to improve the user experience for content authors in D8 by simplifying the way users perform the most basic tasks in Drupal an issue that has repeatedly arisen is the overlay module. There has always been some debate about it’s value—and given that changes are already necessary to integrate with new core functionality—this is a good time to drill in and re-assess how overlay is working and see if we can improve it. To set the context here are a few of our observations:

After much work, study and research and testing, the Spark team has arrived at the latest iteration on edit-in-place. We think is a big improvement on the interaction pattern, but we want feedback from the usability group before we push it to the issue.

Modal dialogs are making their way into core and this could have a great impact on UX strategy for all of Drupal. In general modals are useful for allowing a user who is engaged in a primary task objective to temporarily carry out a ‘secondary’ task in an additional ‘window’.

Hi Everyone,

I know, its been rather quiet from us since the announcement of the Drupal SiteBuilding Usability Initiative some two+ weeks ago. Well, BADCamp got in the way and Michael and Doug was busy mingling with all the amazing Drupalers there for starters. While they where doing that, I spent my time learning and configuring Open Atrium as we have chosen it as our collaboration platform for Drupal SBUI.
