Local government

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Towns, cities, rural districts, and other municipalities could benefit greatly by migrating from frequently proprietary and outdated software services to world-class free software content management systems built for community involvement... such as Drupal. This group facilitates work on features for people's participation or to pushing governments to provide more information and allow greater involvement.

Drupal migration cost figures for local government

When you are tackling a new Drupal migration, sometimes it is useful to have reference points for what other projects have gone though. For that, I've scrutinized the case studies, the Acquia examples, and everything else I could find. However what I'm not finding much data on is what various Drupal migration projects (for government) have cost, or are projected to cost. In this era of "Open Government" this data should be as accessible as the stories of all the great new features that Drupalized government sites have--the data is in the public record after all.

What is Drupal Video

We made a video! I've just thanked the DA, here's what I wrote. Please do watch and pass round the video URL which is at the bottom!

https://association.drupal.org/node/1569#comment-1484

Thanks from Brighton Area Drupal Association!

I felt most of the material available at the moment is fairly technical and also quickly becomes out-of-date so I applied for the grant in order to create marketing material which would help promote Drupal and our Drupal Discovery Day, and be generic and timeless enough to be of use and value to the community at large.

UK & European Council Collaboration / Follow-up to DrupalCon London Gov BoF

At the recent DrupalCon London Government BoF kindly organised by Mike Gifford I raised the point that there seems to be a growing number of councils in the UK using or looking into using Drupal however there doesn't seem to be much collaboration between neither the councils themselves or any outside suppliers who are providing them with Drupal-related services.

VoIP Drupal Beta 5 is out! Now with "deep SMS integration"!

Hello all,

We are happy to announce the release of VoIP Drupal Beta 5!

The main goal of this release is to extend VoIP Drupal's SMS capabilities by
a) integrating VoIP Drupal with Drupal's SMS Framework and, with that, compensate for the lack SMS support provided by major VoIP services (such as Tropo or Twilio) outside of the North American market;
b) providing ways for users to carry conversations over SMS (or any other text-based network such as IM, email, Twitter, etc.);
c) enabling the creation of calls that combine text and voice channels in some very interesting ways.

Proposal & Conversation around "Drupal4Gov Summits"

Hot off the heals of DrupalCon, a number of Drupal'Govies are trying to figure out what's next. With the release of OpenPublic, there is a unique opportunity to tackle some of our more complex issues with an unprecedented way in sharing code, modules, content types and now APPS!!!

FYI, when I'm talking about a "summit," I'm describing a day/s that are mixture between a hackday, unconference, and a "con." Check out this summary < http://groups.drupal.org/node/98784 >.
