Join us for a meetup at the offices of at Oversee.net on January 18, 2011 in Downtown Los Angeles. There will be several presentations as well as open discussions, job announcements and time for networking.
The meetup begins at 7:30pm but the doors open a little earlier at 7pm for Users Helping Users, which is a chance for members of the community to help and be helped by others with whatever questions and problems they're having with Drupal.
Several of us may be going to a local bar or restaurant for a Drupal After Dark afterward.
This event is free and no RSVP is required. To breeze through security and get free or discounted parking, however, you can sign up by logging in and clicking the Sign up button below.
The first 15 people to sign up will get free parking and anyone who signs up after that can get discounted parking. All who sign up will also have instructions and last-minute details (if there are any) sent to them before the meeting.
Be sure to update your profile with your full name so that a name badge will be ready for you at the front desk. To do this, log in and click My Account → Edit → Personal and fill in the "Real name" field. This is optional, but it makes things much easier for the event organizers and our venue sponsor. In any case, please be prepared to show a valid photo ID at the front desk.

Presentation on the fusion theme framework
After attending the last event and talking to Christefano and the other attendees. I would to give a presentation about using the fusion theme with the skinr module, both as a base theme, in conjunction with a contributed theme, and how to create a custom theme that takes full advantage of Fusion's "power".
There should be some good information for all experience levels. Things I want to cover include:
Working and designing for the 960 grid
Creating your own custom fusion sub-themes
Customizing the superfish menus that come with the fusion theme
Using the skinr module in conjunction with fusion to write modulr css that can be cross applied to blocks, views etc
Fusion cross-browser css issues / fixes (specifically IE related css)
I believe that will take up all the time available. Later I may want to add some information on overriding theme functions and customizing the template.php file with some hacks / extra features.
AS a personal note, I've used other base themes including zen and have created Drupal themes from scratch, but there is hands down no comparison to using fusion. Fusion is amazing and superior to other base themes, which is why Acquia choose it for the themes it bundles with it's distribution. If any of you have any specific questions for me that you would like me to try and answer, post them here.
Sign me up!
Hi Solomon, I've been using Basic as a base theme but would love to find out ways to speed up the process!

There are only 15 parking passes available to us for this meetup. Sorry, everyone! We just learned of this yesterday.
Everyone can still get their parking validated at any of the restaurants in the building, including Chaya and Drago Centro. The full list of restaurants in the Paul Hastings Tower can be found at http://www.cnp-la.com/amenities/
Parking
So will we only know if there's parking available when we arrive? I'm coming from Pasadena so I'll need to know if I can expect parking or will have to drive around...
Thanks guys,
Sam
