Hello everyone. As suggested, I've created this wiki page as a place for us to begin organizing the 2011 DrupalCamp Montréal. We're looking for both volunteers and dedicated organizers. Please sign up.

- DrupalCamp Montréal 2011 dates are September 16, 17 and 18 2011.
- The camp will be held in the McIntyre Medical Building at McGill University.
- Keynote speaker: Angie Byron, talking about encouraging participation in the Drupal community

McGill Venue Details
- Available from 2pm, Friday, September 16th until 12am, Sunday, September 18th.
- Space for approx. 450 people.
- 3 large lecture rooms with PAs, projectors and the following capacities: 400, 275, 125.
- 4 smallish rooms (potentially for bofs) with projectors (capacity for 15 people each).
- A secure room without a projector (capacity 12).
- A secure room with a projector (capacity 30).
- Foyer space that can accommodate a buffet line and 450+ people at mealtimes.
- Wifi via McGill Guest network
- Cost: $1776.00 (may be covered by McGill IT sponsorship)
- Larger rooms can capture video (with slides) using automated lecture recording system
- Building access is 7am-7pm on the weekend.

Ideas/Suggestions
- If the venue allows it, make bof/yay spaces available beyond the end of the day (in Chicago they were available 24 hours which was awesome, but we don't need to go that far)
- A 3 day camp with roughly the same number of non-bof/yay sessions as a 2 day camp would free up more time for bofs/yays and general socializing (for example, a day of trainings/bof/yay sessions on Friday, then formal presentations and bof/yay sessions on Saturday and Sunday, not necessarily at the same venue)
- We need to take in consideration that the Drupal community is getting more professional and members are getting a bit older. This means more and more people with children and 9 to 5 jobs. We need to step out of the full week-end event and work more to a confoo class event.
- Some sort of crossover with Berlin. At the very least laptops running Skype in coffee areas or something like that.
- $50.00 Vimeo pro account suggested in tandem with archive.org as hosting solution.

J'ai trouvé le nom de la personne responsable pour la réservation de salle à l'UQAM. Je vais tenter de communiquer avec lui et je vous donnerez les détails.

Pour avoir aidé à organiser et participé à plusieurs activités tenues au Complexe des sciences de l'UQAM, ça pourrait être un emplacement intéressant. L'amphithéâtre du pavillon Sherbrooke et le pavillon Cœur des sciences pourraient aisément accueillir les participants. Je suis membre du comité exécutif de l'asso des étudiants en informatique de l'UQAM, et je pourrais me renseigner auprès des personnes appropriées. Je pourrais aussi faire la promotion de cette activité auprès de nos membres. Laissez-moi savoir si ça vous intéresse, ou si je peux vous être d'une quelconque utilité!

Voici la tarification officielle de l'UQAM pour les différentes salles (http://www.sie.uqam.ca/spe/documents/tarification_espaces.pdf).
Toutefois, on peut lire sur leur site "L’UQAM a une politique interne qui privilégie les fonctions de soutien aux activités de promotion sous forme d’enseignement, de recherche, de création et de diffusion, des organismes de la société civile, des groupes communautaires et populaires ainsi que ceux visant à changer leur situation d’exclus, de défavorisés ou de dominés au sein de la société . L’esprit étant de soutenir les organismes orientés sur l’aide humanitaire ou la promotion des droits de la personne, ayant peu de ressources pour la réalisation de leurs activités."... "à condition de nous expédier, avec votre première demande de réservation, les lettres patentes complètes et en règle de l’organisme."
Si le DrupalCamp peut tomber dans l'une de ces catégories, ça serait moins cher.
Comme membre d'une asso, ça me permait d'obtenir l'info plus rapidement, mais on aura pas de rabais à cause de celà!

Seule une association étudiante établie peut organiser l’événement pour nous en obtenant des informations sur les salles, leurs disponibilités et obtenir les coûts.
Normalement une assocation étudiante peut obtenir les salles gratuitement, ou à moindre coûts. Ici la liste officielle des prix pour les salles ne compte pas.

La tarification des salles était bien sûr à titre indicatif. Même si DrupalCamp n'a pas de lettre patente, des organisations comme Koumbit en ont... Notre asso n'a pas de salle gratuite, sauf les très petites. Je pense comme toi que le plus simple serait de passer par une association étudiante, mais ça pourra pas être la nôtre. Le lien entre DrupalCamp et l'asso des étudiants de maîtrise en communication n'est pas évident à faire. Connaissez-vous des gens en informatique?
Vive le Logiciel Libre!
Il se trouve qu'il existe un comité pour la promotion du logiciel libre au sein de l'Association des étudiant(e)s du secteur des sciences (AESS) de l'UQAM, dont je connais plusieurs membres. Étant donné que Drupal est effectivement un logiciel libre, je n'ai aucune peine à imaginer que l'AESS appuierait la tenue du DrupalCamp au sein de l'UQAM, faisant du même coup profiter de ses tarifs préférentiels à l'événement. Je vais en parler avec les gens de l'AESS et avec la responsable de la vie étudiante du secteur des sciences, et je vous reviens là-dessus sous peu.

J'ai eu quelques infos ce matin. Tel que je le préconisais, l'AESS serait potentiellement intéressé à accueillir le DrupalCamp à l'UQAM, ce qui veut essentiellement dire que la tarification serait coupée de moitié. Étant donné qu'il s'agit ici de promotion du logiciel libre, il serait peut-être même possible d'aller chercher un financement partiel auprès du Comité des logiciels libres de l'AESS et de l'AGEEI, voir peut-être même par le département d'informatique.
Le Comité des logiciels libres de l'AESS me propose une rencontre à ce sujet, lundi le 23 mai à 15h, à l'UQAM (pavillon Sherbrooke). Y a-t-il un membre du comité organisateur qui aimerait être présent lors de cette réunion? Au besoin, je pourrai demander de reporter la rencontre à un moment qui convient mieux.

La rencontre aura lieu dans le café Sain Fractal (café étudiant). Je ne connais pas le numéro exact du local, mais c'est la porte voisine de l'AGEEI, qui est au SH-R345.
Étant donné qu'il s'agit d'un jour férié, les portes seront toutefois certainement verrouillées. Le plus simple sera de me contacter au 514-466-6237, et je viendrai vous ouvrir.

Are you interested in having any training offered at the camp? I'd be interested in doing hands-on training sessions. I have curriculum for an introductory "Hello Drupal" course (~2hrs), and longer (1/2 day or full day) theming, module development or site building courses and have delivered them before.

hi, jacob. yes, we're interested; we're thinking friday september 16th would be dedicated to trainings, code sprints, and BOFs. we're still discussing the terms for the trainings; one proposal is that they be cheap (for some definition of "cheap") and that half the revenue would go to the expenses of the camp. this will be on our agenda at the next planning meeting on july 6th. if you'd like to give us your thoughts on reasonable terms, feel free to leave a comment on the relevant event node: http://groups.drupal.org/node/157464 you could also show up in person if you'd like to discuss it more with us (although we do have several other points to cover that day). but yes, there will certainly be opportunities for experienced trainers and people wanting to learn (more) drupal to work together.
