how to use TID as parameter for restful api
I am working on a site where there is multiple taxonomy terms on each node. I want to be able to use restful api and pull up every node that is related to a taxonomy term. The taxonomy term is saved with the node, but it is only saving the tid, I see that the tid is the link between the nodes, but everytime I try and use the parameter [tid] as a search I get the following. I can get the
Fatal error: Call to undefined method PDOException::message() in /home/content/20/8959120/html/sites/all/modules/services/services.module on line 555

Newspaper taxonomy best practices
As newspapers, we are taxonomy nuts. Surprisingly, there isn't any documented best practices for how to form and use a taxonomy tree.
I am in the early phase of deciding on a main taxonomy tree for 6 newspapers and would be very interested in knowing how others run things.
Some questions:
-
Did your main taxonomy start from a pre-made tree? Associated Press offers one but are there others?
-
Do you include geographical information (State, Region, City) in your main taxonomy tree or do you rely on a set of address fields.
Use Case: If node of certain taxonomy terms exist use as reference, if not create it first
I've searched for the answer to this question before asking here but I'm stumped. I also found a number of people with similar questions but no answers. I also posted this on stack exchange ...

Read moreHow to validate taxonomy term field with a Rule?
I need some help understanding how to validate taxonomy terms associated with a node. I have two taxonomy term fields based off of the same vocabulary. One field is for the user and the other is for a content type. I'd like to validate the node field against the user field. I want to throw an error if the user selected something that is not also selected in the user field.
User Field:
City 1 - checked
City 2
City 3
City 4 - checked
Node Field:
City 1 - checked
City 2 - checked(this should cause an error message and not save the node)
City 3
City 4 - checked
Select nodes by complex taxonomy expressions
For a client I'm working on module that allows to display a taxonomy based selection of nodes (as a view) in another node's content. This is accomplished in three steps:
- a field that can be attached to a node. For now it allows to store a taxonomy selection like: (tid1 AND tid2 AND …) OR (tid3 AND …) OR …
- a views argument handler for nodes that filters nodes by a tid expression like: (IN(t1,t2,…) AND IN(t3,t4,…) AND …) OR (IN(t5,…) AND …) OR …
- a field formatter that uses the selection of 1. to feed it into a views argument from 2.
Hierarchical Taxonomy With Rules (tutorial)
Sorry if this is a duplicate.
GOAL: when a user selects a taxonomy from a field, add the parent nodes for that field as well.
The Rule
EVENT
After saving new content
After updating existing content
CONDITIONS (optional)
Content is of type (your node type)
ACTION
Execute custom PHP code
The code
[code]
$parents=taxonomy_get_parents_all($node->field_location['und'][0]['tid']); //gets all parents and self for the term added
$t=array();
foreach($parents as $p){
$t[]=get_object_vars($p); //convert the objects to arrays
}
[SOLVED] Does Media create thumbnails that can be exposed in Views, for making a grid of thumbnails with certain tag, linking to original images?
I would like to use Views to display, in a block, real thumbnails of images uploaded using tools based on the Drupal 7 Media Gallery module in a grid of images with a certain tag (using filter in views).
By real thumbnails, I mean either cropped small images of the original or the entire original reduced in size. This kind of thumbnail is efficient at loading. I do not want thumbnails which are simply the browser's on-the-fly scaling down of the original.

Turning Taxonomy Terms into Hierarchical Breadcrumbs
We have a complicated taxonomy with lots of parent terms with children terms underneath. Our pages are generated by a behind the scenes call to that taxonomy term. So for instance, if you're looking at the Teen section, all the posts shown have the tag "Teen" on them. A post can be set to multiple taxonomy terms at the current time.
We'd like to develop breadcrumbs so that if you're looking at an item which is tagged Teen as the parent term and Movies as the child term, the breadcrumb would show something like Home > Teen > Movies > Movie Title
