Stagnācija

Sveiki tautieši,

izskatās, ka LV valodā Drupal 5 netiek tulkots. Vismaz publiski ne. Vajadzētu šajā sakarā kaut ko darīt :)
Un cik saprotu, tad mike-green ir uzcepis drupal.lv lapu. Aktivitātes gan tur pamaz, bet labāk kaut kas nekā itin nekas. Un arī tur nekas nav tulkots.

Welcome Email Translations

Greetings,

Is there a translation available for the welcome emails that Drupal sends out? I am using the i18n module and it allows me to change those email messages. I have a translator who will be able to translate them, but if the work has been done already, why have him do it again?

Please advise. Thank you.

Auto Translate

I just started the Auto Translate project. This module, when complete, will add a button to the node translation tab that will fill in a textarea with a (very rough) translation from a third party automatic translator, such as Babelfish or Google. The module may also be configured to translate the content within a textarea.

Redoing the locale module translation web interface

Locale module interfaceNow as we are moving into supporting translation of site settings, content types and so on on the locale module interface, it gets extremely important to streamline the translation web interface provided. As far as I see, we have the following problems with the current interface:

  • you are presented with a big search form, which you need to first understand to get something to translate
  • search results are presented with "edit" links, so you need to click over to the editing screen for all values you need to translate
  • on the "edit" page, you get input fields for all languages, but you are possibly interested in translating more strings to one language, not one string to more languages

As far as I see, the use case of translating as many string at once as possible to one language is much more common then translating strings one by one to multiple languages. Also with site settings, content types and so on translated on the locale interface, you are not actually interested in searching in them, but going through all of them, and translating as required.

So I would suggest we move to a direction similar to how watchog (now called dblog) works:

  • you get an overview screen of values to translate with a pager
  • this screen can be asked for in a particular language, and would show form fields and submit buttons on the bottom ("save translations", "save translations and continue to next page", "continue to next page"), the first going back to the localization overview, the second advancing to the next page with saving, the third only advancing to the next page
  • simple filters would be shown on the top, refactored from the search form

How does this sound for you? What interface would you expect from Drupal 6 to translate several parts of the system? While I still would not tell anyone to translate the built-in Drupal interface with the web interface, admin defined strings have no other practical way (most admins will not have any interest in working with a gettext toolchain).

Correct norwegian language codes corrected for Drupal versions after 5.1

A good news to the norwegian Drupal community!!!

The patch (http://drupal.org/node/124368) submitted via the issue tracker for the Drupal core has now been committed to HEAD. Thanks to hba (a.k.a. neu at drupal.no and henrik at Drupal Norge) for his patch!

This means that the Bokmål (nb) and Nynorsk (nn) are already in the dropdown list when you install a norwegian language file in Drupal.

Please note that this patch is for upcoming versions of Drupal after Drupal 5.1!

Norwegian Bokmål version 2.0 for Drupal 5.x released!

A major release of Norwegian Bokmål translation is now available. This is of course a 100% translation of the Drupal core brought to you by Drupal Norge.

There are more than 1000 changes in this norwegian release based from Skolelinux' wordlist and norwegian bokmål rules stated by Språkrådet. This is the reason why we have to release a major version 2.0.

Please report all bugs and improvements at the official website of the translation effort at http://www.drupalnorge.no/forum/utvikling/sprakfiler
