By default, taxonomy pages display content in chronological order, and this is not customizable unless you update the core module.

To get around this, create a view with taxonomy term as the argument, simple (if you're new to views and arguments, check-out this tutorial video: http://gotdrupal.com/videos/drupal-views-arguments).

In the argument settings, if you enter %1 as the title override, the page title will become the Taxonomy term of the taxonomy id argument, BUT this method fails to show the translated string if you're not viewing the page in the default language.

I'm building a website with drupal for a german audience. All information on this page will be written in German.

I've started developing the website with the default drupal installation package which comes with English as preinstalled language. I did this because it makes it easier for me to search for solution while developing the site. The biggest part of the drupal community speaks English (I guess), so for example tutorials about how to install something are mostly written in English.

Good news is that our client loves the site we launched for them a month or so ago. However they would like to have a Japanese version of the new site at their .jp domain. Anyone with experience localizing Drupal for Japanese?

We've just released the first (working) version of the Translation Management module.

The purpose of this module is to create a systematic process for translating large Drupal sites.

Highlights

• Dedicated Translator Role - translators have language pairs and can translate only in them.
• One Translation Dashboard page - shows everything that needs translation including nodes, blocks, CCK, strings and what-have-you.
• Translation Jobs Queue for translators - each translator sees the jobs waiting for him/her.
• Unified Translation Editor - no matter what you're translating, you're always doing it from the same page.

Who is Translating?

Right now, translators can be Drupal users. You can give Translator privileges to existing users or create new users for translators.

In the very near future, we're also working on an API for interfacing to translation services. This API would be open and any translation service is invited to create a connector for itself.

The Module Itself

The module is now released and working. You can get it from:

There's no official guide yet, but this blog post should be a good place to start:

This kind of thing is an enabling feature for using Drupal on enterprise Drupal sites. Managing translation work can be a huge task and we hope that this helps.

May be this question is not directly related to openpublish, but since I am considering to use OP for a non-english site, I am posting it here.

If I want to translate the date (months, numerals), do I need to hack the template files or there is any other way around. I know a little bit of php (through trial and error and by looking at existing php file). I tried to translate the months (Jan, Feb... etc) via translation module, but that does not translate the roman numerals.

I am currently setting up a multi-country / multi-language site, using one database and one code base. The reason for this is that 90 percent of the content will be shared. I will use 5 different domains for all the countries, using the domain access module package. All domains should have a different default language.
