When is it time to write a module?

I have a "system" that I have built in Drupal 6 for tracking employee time off. I used actions, triggers and php snippets to get this all working. I have a form for creating a time off request, which launches an approval workflow and email notifications, and that ends with (if the time actually taken) a record that records that time, and reports that HR uses for determining vacation and sick balances.

DrupalMedia.org Launched for the Sprint!

As a supplement to the Media group, I launched Drupal Media today to help with the ongoing Media sprint efforts. On its front page, you'll see a map to the next sprint (which is at Mansueto - 7 World Trade Ctr, New York, NY this Friday-Saturday, October 23-24, from 9-5). Tabs are also available for discussions (add your own), videos, and a feed to the Media module issue queue. Please give me any feedback or desired functionality that would be useful for the site. (Including long-term plans for the useful domain, contributed by the good folks at Development Seed.)

Drupal Media

Don't forget that you have to pre-register if you plan to come to the sprint, with your full name. Hope to see you there, or at #drupal-media in IRC!

Views – the basics and a bit more (screencast)

(My previous post mysteriously disappeared. Pardon if this becomes a double post.)

I've just ported my Swedish introduction to Views to English! It can be viewed at blip.tv or downloaded from tr.im/drupal.

The screencast is a step-by-step guide into Views (for Drupal 6, of course), covering the following:
* Download and installation
* Creating a simple list page + the basic settings
* Creating a table
* The point of grouping fields
* Creating and enabling a Views block

Why You Want to Be There

  • Because you want to learn about the future of multimedia in Drupal.
  • Because you want to help transform multimedia handling for Drupal.
  • Because everything you thought you knew about Drupal and multimedia is about to be obsolete (and why that's a good thing)...

I'll post a synopsis and schedule in the morning, so stay tuned!

User-managed galleries - is that posible with Drupal 6?

I posted this in the Image group but haven't got any response yet. May be because the title is about user-managed galleries but in fact it is about user managed node hierarchies ;-)
