Why usability?
We are all here because we care about usability and Drupal. I think it is important for the rest of the project that we are able to articulate why.
Thes following discussion should be edited down to a concise piece of text which can be part of an introduction to usability for people concentrating on other fields and Drupal.

Posted here for completeness, please head over to that thread for comments about the report specifically.
Things done well:
- Including the larger Drupal community in the audience.
- Making clear distinctions about audiences and their needs where appropriate.
- Friendly license.
- The report was well-informed from a Drupal development perspective, such as mentioning themeability where appropriate.

A few observations on posting content
A few people in my office space have been editing content on a CVS Drupal site I'm involved with. Here are a few issues that came up:
- The preview is confusing. The shortened version and the long version run together.
This could be blamed on me as a themer since I haven't bnothered to theme those. However, I'm not sure that I should have to worry about those.
Some suggestions for making them better by default:
- Use the new clear-block class so images and other tall content don't flow into each other.
- Put some sort of highlighting which separate the previews and makes the "preview" headers stand out. (disclaimer: I'm using yui reset.css which manages to undo some of drupal.css)
Drupal administration survey based on 10 interviews
The survey questions and responses listed below are derived from interviews conducted with Drupal administrators from novice to expert. The responses must be evaluated for clarity and conciseness. All questions are multiple selection in that the survey taker can select those that apply to help us best understand the Drupal users in aggregate. Each question in the survey will have an other selection so we can look for answers that did not surface during interviews.
The survey will be done using SurveyMonkey.com. It will run for 45 days linked from the front page of Drupal.org.
If you complete all the questions in this survey and would like to be recognized as a contributor to improving Drupal user experience please indicate your Drupal.org username

"interviewee" I started out by tinkering and setting up my own site, learning how to download and configure modules. Now I work a lot with the code side of things and have a better understanding of what's going on "behind the scenes." So I'm usually able to make my way through confusing administrative tasks, but stuff can still slow me down or force me to check the handbook sometimes.

Read more Theme site set up
There is set up a small testing site for themes at http://theme.drupaler.net/.
I've tried to install all available themes (4.7.2) and categorized them according to their validatation against "Markup", "CSS" and "WCAG".
All Installed themes can be easily tested from a "Test [$theme]" link. If you are registered you are able to vote for a theme.
If a theme is missing, you should post a story with the [$theme].tar.gz
CSS Error & Warning free: ! or ?
As I've started "W3C compliant CSS"-issue (http://drupal.org/node/70296) as a wish, it was the first one in the chain of validitaion.
The main critism of warning-free css-validation is the "inherit" argument, which changes nothing visible, but is needed by W3C-validation (warning free).
In my opinion there is a difference between an "explicit defined default" and an "undefined default", cause the "explicit defined" says: Yes, I'm sure, that I want to do this.
As we are experienced webusers, we know that the warning of "undefined color" doesn't make visible sense. But it's one of my most-hated questions customers asks me twice a month: "Why does your site so much validation warnings, although you are working active for accessibility?".
Usabilty and Information Architecture/Design
The disciples of usability, information architecture (IA), and design all fall under the category of user interface work. Usability work, by my understanding, is using formal methods, such as interviews, surveys, and observation, to quantitatively measure user needs, success, and satisfaction.
Right now this group is about usability and there is no home for IA and design. Should it be about IA and design as well?
