Drupal Association Drupal Camp Organizer Survey Summary
Recently, I've been working with the Drupal Association in determining the most effective ways that the association can help user groups organize local Drupal camps. One of the first thing we realized was that we didn't have any hard data on how camps were actually organized. We decided to create a survey for camp organizers to collect some data.

Read morePromo code, flyers and books from Wiley for support of Drupalcamps
During Drupalcon there was a DRU10 promotion code created by Wiley Publishing to help promote sales of their Drupal book. They've now extended that promo code to go through the end of August so that we can use the promo code to promote books at camp events. They are also able to send out some flyers with the coupon code and perhaps a few books.
If you want to get these items to help build some buzz about our commnity's authors and about your camp, you can contact

A few posts before this one [at the time of writing] is a post http://groups.drupal.org/node/71053 for "DrupalCamp Dallas at OpenCamp" which was originally posted by djhahn to the Dallas TX and Drupal Event Organization groups. I have adding the "Marketing of Drupal" group to the post because I would like to start a conversation about how we can effectively take advantage of OpenCamp as there will be a LOT of non Drupal attendees at the gig. Yes, some of them will be steeped into their other preferred CMS, but many will be there fishing for solutions to their web content issues.

In 2009, LA Drupal gave our DrupalCamp L.A. site code away to the world for other groups to adopt that would hopefully help spark new DrupalCamps across the world. At the time of its release we could only provide a ZIP file with the database dump and a folder of modules. Handfuls of user groups adopted our code and started to give us feedback. Up until now there has been no official documentation, instructions, or anything that would help get a new DrupalCamp site up painlessly. That is about to change.

Good morning (depending on your location),
I'm working with the Drupal Association on a small project to collect data about how DrupalCamps around the world are organized. If you've been involved in organizing a DrupalCamp in the past, I'd like to ask your help by completing the following survey:
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/HTTKNFC
The data will be used to help the Drupal Association determine how it can best help DrupalCamp organizers in the future.
Thank you in advance,

SANDcamp 2011
We're officially announcing the 2011 version of SANDcamp a little earlier this year! :)
Why? Well, the dates are set by the NFL (weekend between the end of the playoffs and the superbowl). And we're getting the same awesome venue again, thanks to the Balboa Park Online Collaborative and the San Diego Sports Museum. So why not?
Website for 2011 is on it's way.

Hello fellow Drupal Event Organizers!
To help provide a perspective on where we started and where we're headed there is a wiki that attempts to document all the camps around the world including some meta-data about them like the number of attendees, where they were held, etc.
So, please take a few minutes and add your camps to the Drupalcamp Wiki for history and future.

I realize 99% of you reading this are not lawyers, so with that in mind:
How have organizers of medium-to-large sized drupalcamps dealt with legal liability? In Toronto, one of our options is to incorporate as a non-profit. It's quite a bit of hassle, but it would allow us to accept checks from sponsors made out to DrupalCamp TO and could greatly reduce risk.
Any thoughts?
