Drupal Event Organization

We encourage users to post events happening in the community to the community events group on https://www.drupal.org.

Welcome to the Drupal Event Organization group. Here we share meetup, camp, regional conference, and international conference organization tips and tricks. The event calendar should be used to announce events, not this group. Feel free to share your tips about successful events and plans, find partners to organize meetups.

Overriding Template Files by using hook_theme()

You will find several other template files as you browse through the module and theme directories of
your site. For example, the custom search module uses custom_search.tpl.php for rendering custom search. The
custom search module creates a number of variables and exposes those variables to the custom_search.tpl.php file.

DrupalCamps + Training. Better Practices.

In the past ~1.5 years at Acquia, I've seen a bit of info about how to do Drupal training at camps that may be helpful to others. Please augment with your thoughts.

There are a few models of training & cost going around the camp world.
1. Training runs at market pricing, and is arranged by a Training Company (w/marketing support of camp). Company keeps all (or most) of revenue.
2. Training runs at market pricing, is arranged & marketed by Camp, and revenue is split (some %) between camp & Company

Barcelona Drupal Developer Days: Final program is out!

It is only one month to the European Drupal event you cannot afford to miss: the Drupal Developer Days Barcelona.

We have great news for you because we finished the final program and we made up our mind (finally) about our scholarships.

Program finished

We would like to thank everybody for submitting 34 the amazing session proposals. Although we had a difficult time choosing the sessions, the great proposals made it easy to come up with a program bursting with all that is hot and happening in the Drupal universe.
Checkout the 34 sessions that made it to the final program. Besides sessions you will be able to attend sprints and of course there will be enough room for BOFs too.
We're opening the event with an Open Space activity on Friday at 4pm, find more details in here.

Scholarship program

Our scholarship program provides financial support for Drupal developers, who would otherwise not be able to attend, so that they can participate in the Drupal Developer Days.

We are very happy to announce the names of the five attendees that will receive these scholarships.

Sponsors

We like to thank our gold sponsors Node One and Omega8.cc for making this event possible.

Do like them and help us rock Barcelona by becoming sponsor of the Drupal Developer Days Barcelona. Find the details of the different sponsorship levels and the great companies that already have confirmed their support on the website.

Register now!

We have over 150 registered attendees now so there is plenty of room for more. For a modest 25 EUR entrance fee we serve you an action packed program as well as coffee & biscuits.

If you already pre-registered please sign in and complete the payment process.

If you have any questions, please use our forum, contact form or ping @drupaldaysbcn on Twitter.

When should session submission close? (or any other call for submissions)

Drupalcon Munich has a great graph that shows the dates when people submit sessions. Unfortunately (for event organizaers) a lot of it happens at the last minute.

This is a problem for session track chairs because they don't know if they'll have enough good sessions.

Event Text Templates

Jeff Schuler brought up a good point during our Drupalcon Denver discussion about templates for events. We should collaborate on templates and have them easily available for anyone interested in organizing events. This enables organizers to focus on more pressing issues such as finding quality presentations.

Fiscal Sponsorship of DrupalCamps

I'd like to open a discussion about the Drupal Association's experiment with fiscal sponsorship of DrupalCamps. In 2010 and 2011 the Drupal Association ran a temporary program with a small group of camp leaders to learn if there are benefits to fiscal sponsorship and to determine if it is a feasible program. As the year is nearing its close it is a good time to reflect on the program and review its value to the community.
