I don't think there's a formal process for becoming a group organizer for groups.drupal.org/nyc, but I assume that it should involve a public post to the group to request the status, so here goes:
I'd like to be added as a group organizer.
There are already six organizers (winston, ezra-g, orbgasm, forestmars, jredding & tresler).
As an active member of the group, and as one of the people taking the lead in organizing the NYC camps (or whatever we're calling them now), it would be useful for me to be able to edit events and tweak the layout of the group pages.
A 'group organizer' relates to having admin permissions for the group, rather than any formal leadership position.
We can discuss further at the meetup this evening, or in this thread. I'll also be in #drupal-nyc in IRC for the rest of the afternoon.

If you are not an organizer for this group I don't know who is!
However I'm adding it to the meetup agenda as group leadership BOF as I do think we should come up with at least some expectation of how one goes about getting to be a group organizer and what is expected.
I had this on the agenda for a few meetups, but it never really happened so hopefully tonight's the night.

We had an excellent discussion regarding what it means to be a group organizer, what is expected from group organizers, how to become a group organizer, etc.
I think it was a very productive discussion. I will post my notes and the conclusions reached by the group hopefully tomorrow night (too tired now).
