Don't know about you guys, but $180/night for hotel is pretty steep - steep enough that if I don't get some roommates I can't go to Drupalcon Chicago. I figure I can't possibly be the only one, so I'd like to start a signup/communication list for folks who are interested in teaming up on rooms. Also there may be folks who want to drive and who might want to ride-share, and this list could serve for that as well.

If I have posted this in the wrong place please let me know and I'll re-post it to another location.

Might have been better as regular discussion. Anyway, definitely shouldn't be on featured.

Generally featured event is only for...
- Regular Monthly Meetup
- An NYC Camp
- Regular Monthly happy hour
- Regular Monthly Drupal "play day"
- Dojo or Hackfest
- Sprint

I just couldn't figure out a way to turn that off - it "featured" it automatically, and the rules said that anything that was "date-based" should be an Event. Sorry I did it wrong.

Event is fine.

Featured is a taxonomy term so as long as you don't pick featured as a taxonomy term then it just shows up in the regular stream of events.

Hi Matt,
I sent you a note via your contact form. I think the typical room is a double, and I am fine with sleeping on the floor if you get more than one response. Also, mixed-gender sharing doesn't bother me if it doesn't bother you. I've lived in co-ops and shared houses in close quarters with both genders my whole life.

I'm hoping that this list will gain some activity as we get closer to the event.

You should try calling the Red Roof Inn for un-advertised $60/night. Or go through HotWire.

It is 12 minute walking distance to the Sheaton.

I just called & prodded for that rate, but did not get it. I did reserve a room since I still needed accommodations for Thursday & Friday nights... w/two full beds. If anyone happens to be in the same boat (looking for thursday & friday night roomshares), drop me a note here.
