Hey NYC,
We, ThinkDrop, would like to offer our space for the Drupal 7 release party. Here's what we were planning: http://www.drupal7releaseparty.org/united-states/release-party-thinkdrop
Our space can hold 50+ people; 80 is probably close to cap. There is a great bar across the street, Matt Torrey's, for overflow...Drupal Block Party. We can talk to Matt to give him a heads up, too. I'm sure he'd be thrilled.
If we do go fwd, any other shops that want to contribute/sponsor to party funds, let's talk. We can provide the space, but it'll be even awesomesaucier party if we all put down $$$
We want to work with the efforts that have started, so I open this up to the greater group...

Thanks for starting this thread :).
NYC should definitely host an awesome Drupal 7 release party!
As we've discussed with folks in #drupal-nyc, GVS and Treehouse have been organizing a Drupal 7 release party that we'll announce early next week.
We've found a great venue in lower Manhattan where we'll have sponsored drinks for the night and have some other fun stuff planned!
We've been in touch with Claudine (misscs) from Thinkdrop and are discussing how we can all celebrate at one big party for the release of the best version of Drupal ever!
Stay tuned for final details!
Drupal 7 Flash mob?
How about if a couple of hundred Drupal developers swarm Grand Central Terminal at 5:30pm all wearing our DrupalCamp (I Drupal NY) T-shirts??
Even better if we all have digital cameras or video cams and post to youtube, flickr, etc.
