Thanks to everyone who came and participated.

My todo list/notes from last night's meeting:

  • find lanyards - ideally with a hook/clasp to fit standard hole-punch hole
  • find after party location (Triumph too expensive, Peter will contact Ivy Inn)
  • compose spreadsheet of sponsors to contact (Henry is starting)
  • contact possible sponsors - compose generic solicitation. Note 7 day cutoff for printed logo in materials
  • layout, print, fold, punch badges - possibly use stickers for names
  • 2.25" buttons as swag? Need design.
  • Investigate afternoon coffee from Small World or extended coffee service with reduced breakfast food.
  • publicize deadline: sessions finalized Jan 21 (Sat)
  • publicize deadline: session submission cutoff Jan 18 (Wed)
  • solicit day-of volunteers 1 per room, 2 at desk (rotating), 1-2 directing- thus 6-10 total+organizers needed
  • cycling presentation re: sponsors, camp, & Drupal community to show in all rooms

DrupalCamp Badges

Having the double-folded sheet for the badge and then putting a punch through it will be inconvenient for attendees. However, if we cut a single sheet of 8.5 x 11 paper in half and then staple along the fold, we get an 8-page booklet. We could, if needed, add an additional half-sheet for 12 pages. The hole punch could go in the corner or the center; after making the mockup, my preference is the center. I would be willing to assemble badges, and I am sure we could get a couple of other volunteers.

Stickers for names would be easiest, but we could still investigate if whoever is printing them can do a data merge (or print them all blank and send them through a printer a second time for the names and d.o usernames).

Only local images are allowed.

As for lanyards, now I see why WordCamps always try to recycle theirs. 200 x 1/4" rope cord lanyards with a hook clasp would be around $76.00.

+1 for recycle

Yes to recycle, lanyard and plastic! A little late for this event, but.....

Perhaps we can begin the trend by getting attendees to drop them off on their way out. We can keep 'em for the next event or pass 'em along to another group. Still got mine from NYC camp and just tossed out a few from events past.

My thought was that the

My thought was that the essential information would be on the inside, so accessible even while clipped.

In any case, I don't think unclipping is necessarily too much more work than taking the badge out of a folder like the NYC camp had?

Drupal blue? http://www.lanyardsnow.com/Products/Item.aspx?itemID=51H-LB-H

See below images using a D for D badge Jeannie gave me as an example - I punched it with an office punch and used a lanyard of a slightly different style I had handy. You can still open it to see the immediate inside contents, though I agree your idea might be better (though more work).

These pictures all look good.

These pictures all look good. One of the pros for using stickers, instead of printing names directly on the handout, is not having to search through a pile of handouts to find the right one for each person. Many stacks of handouts and a couple sheets of stickers.

Trying to reuse things from

pwolanin's picture

Trying to reuse things from year to year is almost certainly not worth the hassle imho.

However, for an even lower impact and cheaper solution we could just use cord or yarn instead of a fancy lanyard. Too cheap?

DrupalCampNH purchased their

DrupalCampNH purchased their lanyards and plastic holders from http://www.pcnametag.com/ and had multiple pieces of paper inside the plastic, including the schedule and after-party map. http://twitter.com/#!/drupalcampnh/media/slideshow?url=pic.twitter.com%2FZoU2SS6G
