New England GiveCamp: Review Drupal project scope
We have received a non-profit project submission for New England GiveCamp (http://newenglandgivecamp.org), and would like to have someone experienced in Drupal help review the scope of that project to see if it fits into the scope of work for the weekend.
If you'd be interested in chatting with the non-profit entity and helping us determine if they are a fit for the weekend effort, please contact us directly at negc2010@hotmail.com.
Thank you,
Jim O'Neil
New England GiveCamp
The New England technical community is coming together at Microsoft's New England Research and Development Center (aka NERD) from June 11-13 for the first GiveCamp in this area. New England GiveCamp (http://newenglandgivecamp.org) will bring over two dozen non-profit organizations and about 100 technical professionals and other volunteers together to work on projects for those non-profit organizations during the weekend.

Hi Local Groups,
We are getting great design-related sessions submitted but there's a need for basic Drupal sessions so newbies know what the heck we are talking about. Like intro to Drupal, CCK, views, terminology, ect. Remember when we started out? That kind of stuff.

Thanks for your help!

One on one Drupal tutoring
Many people have asked me to teach them Drupal. I am hoping my new site will be useful to those who want to teach and those who wish to learn the fabulous thing called Drupal - in a one on one environment, locally!
I am building a learning/teaching resources hub at drupalconnection.com
Drupal Kitchen is a part of the hub and is now open for people to meet and learn Drupal.
I would love any feedback and/or offers of help to increase the usefulness of this site for the community!
This is my first Drupal site for the community, so I am open to suggestions at making it better!!!

Getting DrupalCon flashbacks? Wish you could have gone and want an intimate taste?
June 2009 brought you the first D4D camp, born out of discussion from DrupalCon DC.
This June, we're happy to announce that D4D Boston returns.
The updated web site and a call for session presenters are imminent.
Plan something fresh, exciting, and yes, design-related. Got any case studies?
Not just for designers and themers; project managers, developers, and
the curious are also welcomed. We're also discussing a dedicated job fair soiree.
Drupaldelphia May 14, 2010
Drupaldelphia is how Philly does DrupalCamp!
Join us for a day long exhibition and celebration of Drupal and related tools.
Drupaldelphia is appropriate for all levels of Drupal users; from those who are evaluating Drupal for the first time to core Drupal contributors.
The day is a mix of structured sessions and organic 'Birds of a Feather' sessions (informal discussion groups, like barcamp).

Read moreReady for a Boston Drupal Dojo?
I posted a wiki on Drupal Dojos, Hack Nights, and Cafés in your community after spending some time with Lynn Bender who started a Drupal Dojo in the Austin community. The general idea is to have a weekly opportunity to get together with other folks in the local Drupal community to work on projects and share solutions to problems.
Read morePermissions(?) Issues
Three times now, several items in our primary navigation and other menus have disappeared for site admins, authenticated and anonymous users. (User 1 still seems to be able to see/access these areas of the site.) Even when you navigate directly to the URL, all users aside from User 1 get an Access Denied message. This has happened at least 4 times, and we're not sure of the reason or exactly how its resolved. The first time it happened was after we migrated data from an external database into our site (including users and other nodes). We're unsure of the cause the second time.

Per our last Boston Meetup and #drupal-boston, there had been growing interest in having a smaller developer's meetup.
We'll be doing it BarCamp style, from sharing code snippets (be bold!) and peer help reviews (be brave!) to looking at Drupal 7 ***
(be wowed!).
*** This will prob. be a later dev meetup topic where people arrive with D7 pre-installed locally on laptops.
And if there are any volunteers who want to lead the D7 under the hood discussion, let us know.

It would be great if someone could volunteer tonight to show Drupal admins how to complete this Mollom upgrade! Any takers?
From Dries Buytaert:
"We released a new version of the Mollom module for Drupal 6. A number of important bug fixes are present in this release, including several that involve audio CAPTCHAs and the upgrade path not working correctly. Upgrading to the new Mollom 6.x-1.13 release is highly recommended. When you do, make sure to run Drupal's update.php.
Read morePath Finder discount available to the Drupal community
Exaltation of Larks is happy to offer the Drupal community a 25% discount code towards Path Finder by Cocoatech. Path Finder is an awesome file manager that we at Exaltation of Larks find invaluable for our development work. It's a complete drop-in replacement for the Apple Finder on Mac OS X that makes the Finder look like it was made for children by Fisher-Price.
The discount code is LADRUPAL and it will work until the end of April, 2010. No one at Exaltation of Larks is getting any kickbacks from this promotion. It's purely an offer to the Drupal community to make people's work easier.

Friends, please save the date to hear Dries speak at Harvard University on April 15, 2010. Talk is at 6pm, topic TBA, reception (sponsored by Acquia!) to follow, and you should still have plenty of time to wrap up your taxes, if you like to live dangerously.
Many more details to follow; this is just a heads-up to save the date. Hope to see you all there!
