I mentioned this at the NYC meetup last night. Here are the links and information.
Ryan Szarma (one of the two creators/lead developers of Ubercart) and the Commerce Guys (who just hired him full time) have agreed to develop for Ubercart donation support (It is really variable pricing support, "Pay what you want".) as well as EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer - to pay directly from your checking account).
Ten people have donated to the project so far. I'd like to at least double that number with people from the NYC group. I don't care how much you give. I believe you will find it a little like horse racing, pretty boring unless you put some money on it. Then it is exciting and you are really engaged in the whole process.
