I'm in the area and have been quite busy since having to learn drupal's API & view's API but I would love to come to any meetup that helps me and others get things done :P
I'll come out there even if its just you, haha. And LIC is a nice middle ground I would say.

There is the regular monthly meetup downtown and another playday that both focus more on technical issues, general Drupal topics and some how-to type information. There is little to no discussion relative to business operations specific to freelancers. Most of the people attending the regular meetups have f/t jobs and thus are likely not interested in this topic. Which is why I'm proposing an additional meetup focused on this topic.
The meetup I'm proposing would be much more focused on the dynamics surrounding being a freelancer. The topics would likely include things like client acquisition, cultivating/maintaining healthy client relationships, working with agencies, contracts/legal/etc, administrative tools/methods, tools of the trade, etc.
The idea is still just an idea atm. I haven't looked into sourcing a venue and haven't gotten very much feedback. There has been some interest but I'm not sure it's enough to move forward as of yet.
