Looking for info about setting up a Features Server, finding a lot of dead links

We encourage users to post events happening in the community to the community events group on https://www.drupal.org.

  • At http://groups.drupal.org/node/50278 the link to mig5 Feature Server Installation Profile profile is broken http://community.featureservers.org/project/feature-server-install-profile
  • The link is also broken on the mig5 site "So I wrote an install profile" http://features.mig5.net/project/featureserver
  • On the same page at mig5 http://mig5.net/content/feature-server-and-install-profile-drupal.html the links for the code and themes at Development Seed are broken "Now the code, and also the theme(s) which is nice!, are available for download", and the link to the mig5 features server is broken too
  • the blog post on Development Seed that mig5 references still exists http://developmentseed.org/blog/2009/jun/26/recipe-feature-server/ however a search on DS for "features" returns no results
  • Well, I did find some info finally

  • a Drupal 6 module http://drupal.org/project/fserver
  • a couple of Drupal 7 forks of the fserver module on Github http://drupal.org/node/1263910
  • a Development Seed screencast on setting up a Features Server (which did not appear in search results on the site) http://developmentseed.org/blog/2009/jun/25/pushing-public-private-updat...
  • an answer on Stack Exchange: "I don't think there is a D7 of the feature server but you can host your D7 specific features on a D6 feature server." http://drupal.stackexchange.com/questions/26534/setting-up-an-features-s... - and this is confirmed on the fserver project page
  • So, I get the idea that if the D7 development of fserver is not stable, D7 features may be hosted on the D6 fserver
