Intro to Drupal Hands-On Downloads and Requirements

We encourage users to post events happening in the community to the community events group on https://www.drupal.org.
You are viewing a wiki page. You are welcome to join the group and then edit it. Be bold!

Attendees!

Follow the below instructions to make sure you are ready for this session BEFORE you come to DrupalCampNYC 7!

Are you a newbie to Drupal wanting to see "what it's all about"? Want to leave Drupal camp with a working install of Drupal running on your machine to play with? Want to get a solid overview of how to set up Drupal, create and configure a basic site, and use some cool modules to add functionality? Then this is where you'll want to be on Saturday.

Do this BEFORE you come to DrupalCampNYC 7

Download These Files

  1. An "AMP" stack installer appropriate for your Operating System.
  2. Download the class files by clicking here
Put it on your desktop and uncompress it there. It will have a "drupalintro" folder and a "resources" folder after being uncompressed. Make sure you know where those are for camp.
Someone told me the link timed out last night. Just put a new link on this. Will have usb sticks with class files at camp too!

Attend an InstallFest BEFORE camp starts

There are three of these happening before camp! Make sure to attend one so you AMP stack is ready to go and properly configured for the hands-on intro session (I won't stop in the actual intro session to do this).

  • November Drupal NYC Meetup (Completed!)
  • Web based installfest on Wednesday, Dec 2 at 9:00 PM - sign up here - http://groups.drupal.org/node/34800
  • "Early Bird" Installfest on Camp day Dec 5th at 9:00 am - same location as Camp, no signup needed.

Bring to Camp

  • Your Laptop
  • Power Strip (there are outlets, but not enough for all so power strips will be most appreciated)
  • Make sure you have the downloads described above on your computer and handy
  • Make sure to attend one of the installfest options above.

Schedule on Camp Day!

Detailed schedule will be decided barcamp style with a community discussion starting at 10 am (along with breakfast). Hands-on Intro will definitely be one of the first to start. So specifically as it relates to the hands-on intro here is the schedule on camp day:

  • 9:00 am to 10:00 am - Installfest
  • 10:00 am to 11:00 am - Community decides full day schedule
  • 11:00 am to 1:00 pm - Hands-On Intro
  • 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm - Additional sessions (many options!)

See You There!
