Great Job on NYC Group Home Page - How done?

I am frustrated by most Groups (especially the working groups which I presume to the subject-based groups) in that they almost always have just one page with what appears to be an unorganized jumble of miscellaneous questions and answers (very hard to really gain any knowledge of what is going on in the area of focus of particular group). I suspect that is why many groups appear dormant or have very little traffic.

I would like to see subject-oriented groups that become true community meeting and discussion places for those interested in advancing knowledge on that subject area. I believe this is only possible if the content and the discussions of the group is highly structured.

If I manage to structure the data, I would need to be able to present it to group members in that structured, easy to navigate manner.

I have been clicking through groups trying to find groups that have structured data but so far I have not found anything that compares to the NYC group home page.

How did you create the home page for NYC?
