Have information on where folks should stay while at DrupalCampNYC8?

This forum is for listing suggestions for "for pay" lodging such as Hotels. There is a separate thread for offering or asking for a "couch surf".

The Marriot is across the street

winston's picture

OK, the obvious one will be the Marriot immediately across the street from the venue. Won't be the cheapest, but it will save you cab or public transit fares.

Here's a ngoogle maps link

Awesome bed & breakfast

This place is run by some friends of mine. Beware, site may offend your sky blue soul.

1 block away from Brooklyn Poly.
Definitely more bohemian than the Marriott, rates are about 1/3rd if you fill the rooms.

Super hard to get in contact!

Not getting any call backs or pick ups via skype or phone. Looks good though. Can @LP check with friend to see if we can get Drupalists in?

Correction

Hi, I'm one of the aforementioned friends.

Sorry for any confusion -- that website is for the B&B that used to be in my house. The operator was evicted for extremely sketchy behavior and we took over the space. We're literally a block from the MetroTech campus.

We're renovating it at present but have a few rooms available if you don't mind a little chaos. Breakfast is not being served for legal reasons, but we have a fridge you could store milk etc in.

$80/night for one. $20/each additional person. Preference given to larger parties, or people willing to share!

  1. A skinny room with a double bed. Room on the floor for one if you're down with that sort of thing.
  2. A corner room currently empty while we're painting it and fixing the wall. This room can fit two or three mattresses or be a huge puppy pile.
  3. A eastern-facing room with a queen. Room on the floor for a couple more.

If you're interested, email me at my username at gmail dot com.

Best,
Matt

p.s. I'm the lead developer of the client toolset over at http://addthis.com and would love to talk shop at some point....

I recommend this place for

I recommend this place for backpacker types: http://www.chelseahostel.com/ (I stayed here for 2 months when I first moved to NYC in 2000.)

This place is alright if you have nowhere else to sleep: http://www.whitehousehotelofny.com/ (I used to work the front desk.)

FULL DISCLOSURE: The Whitehouse hotel is the last of the SRO's on Bowery. It still houses a sizable number of men who have lived there for decades. They co-exist with the international travelers & tourists that are now it's mainstay clientele very well. This situation can be a little strange for some to realize when stepping off the bus since the website says nothing about it. During the year or so that I worked here I saw two incidents of bedbugs which were rectified immediately. The owner (in whom i have ZERO respect) was good about keeping the place properly maintained.

@LP You should do your friends a favor and bang out a Drupal site for 'em.
