Mentor Help with learning Drupal
I'm new to the Drupal Community, but have been learning a ton by reading other discussions, books, etc. I'm from the Charlotte,NC area and was wondering if there was anyone in this group that was relatively close to the Charlotte area? I'm looking to see if there is one or a few individuals close to the area that would be interested in being a "mentor" to me. All i'm looking for is someone who would be willing to show me things outside of what i'm reading in the books or threads and help explain things. Is there anyone here that is interested?

Is any module able to provide "add to my calendar" link in a date node
Hi, there
I am working on a project here, part of it is about date & calendar modules.
I created a date content type with a date field, used it to publish event node.
Then I hope I can add a field on this type, which can export the event information in every node into Google Calendar and ical format.
I am wondering if there is any module can do this job, or any way can realize this idea.
Thanks

This isn't necessarily a Drupal-centric question, but this is the only online community I am part of...
So, I have a client who wants to sell t-shirts and sports apparel on his website. To clarify, it has his company logo on it, so it's likely from a local screen print type shop. He's a 2 employee company, and I don't want supporting this to become a headache for me. I'd like to implement the solution and be hands off.
So, any recommendations?
Read moreBest Practices - Installing Drupal
Is it best to install Drupal at root level (public_html)?
Or is it better to create a Drupal folder (public_html/Drupal) and install there.
Are there pros and cons, warnings... or does it simply not matter?
Also, are there ramifications regarding multisite install or subdomains?
As always, thanks so much for your insights.

My purpose was to take a website already in production and be able to test doing module upgrades.
Here is what I did:
Through the cpanel of my production site (www.example.com) I added a sub-domain (dev), additionally I added a second database (devdb).

I have a small, low-performance drupal 6 site (hosted on godaddy) at www.lumbertonstate.org. Yesterday I updated several modules (views, google analytics) in maintenance mode, run update and now the start page / home page refuses to come up. However, I can access other pages, I can login as admin, etc.

Drupal: The Card Game
I don't even know what to say. My friend sent this to me.
Players start by playing cards representing modules and then build up their own contributions to those modules with points on colored cards representing each player. These are referred to as "patch cards," since developers fix a module by patching its code.
Players must contribute enough patch cards to make a module available to any player to eventually build a website. They can also "own" that module by being its biggest contributor.

Local news, thought I'd pass along.
Guilford County taxpayers have spent $47,000 on a website so flawed that it may never debut online.
In fact, the site is so full of bugs that county officials said they’re not sure any of it can be salvaged.

Just a warning, updating a theme via update.php will erase local.css for that theme. Apparently, this is not a bug... but also, there is no warning. Hopefully that will be rectified soon! Just wanted to let others know.

Just seeing if anyone sees something glaringly obvious here, I've been working on this since yesterday. Upgrading D6 to D7:
On non-update pages:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function decode_entities() in /home5/public_html/includes/common.inc on line 1552
On mysite.com/update.php?op=results I get the following:

Drupal 7 books?
So, my father-in-law gave me Using Drupal for Christmas, I already have it though. Wondering if anyone could suggest another good book? He also gave me Cracking Drupal. I was thinking of maybe getting my hands on a Drupal 7 book? Anyone here have any experience or recommendations?
