Hot Drupal Projects Survey

NOTE: This is a session for the upcoming New Paltz DrupalCamp.

Why a Group Survey?

Sure, you could go look at these sites yourself; but in a group, we can bring to light the PMI (Plus Minus Interesting) of each. PMI is a great brainstorming / idea generation format, developed by Edward deBono. Read more: MindTools.com summary

For example: Open Atrium looked wonderful on a first pass (to me) - but Frank brought up the Subversion question. I didn't see any Subversion support right now, but we COULD do an exhaustive search and see if any was in development for it. Without subversion, what is Open Atrium best at? And why not do this with our own Drupal installations, given that Lullabot already built BaseCamp in Drupal and the code is available?

Session Goals

Bring you portables! We'll ask questions, play "who can find the answer" fastest, and summarize each surveyed project with "the most significant PMIs" on a WIKI (with links) for future reference and continuation for those who want to keep the conversation going.

Session Structure

This is going to be a bit BOF-ish - I'll start with some projects, and we'll either take all the time on those, veto those (if nobody's interested), or get new suggestions from attendees. For each project:

  1. Pick a Project: Someone suggests one, and says why it's significant. They may facilitate the discussion, else I will (in which case, the suggester takes the notes on the WIKI).
  2. Plus: What's cool about it?
  3. Minus: What doesn't it do (or do well) that it should?
  4. Interesting: What new spaces does this open up for other projects?
