Downtown Los Angeles Drupal Meetup at Droplabs on August 21, 2012
The next general Downtown Los Angeles Drupal meetup is on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 and will be at Droplabs, your FREE Drupal event and coworking space in Downtown Los Angeles. Those interested in attending this meetup remotely are welcome to join us via WebEx.
Our featured presentation is Drupal at Sea with Princess Cruises, by Nate Craddock (@darthmario). We'll be hearing how how Drupal is used at Princess Cruises and on its new ship, Royal Princess, which is coming in June, 2013.
Meanwhile, Droplabs hosted its third code sprint and barn raising for the Arroyo S.E.C.O. Network of Time Banks on August 17 & 18, 2012. We'll have a repeat of the How to Create a Project on Drupal.org presentation from that barn raising and briefly discuss how the code sprint and barn raising went.
Thank You to Our Sponsors!
The projector, raffle prizes and video conferencing support for this event are being provided by Exaltation of Larks, a Drupal strategy, consulting, development and training company with a team of Drupal experts in Los Angeles.

Join us at Droplabs on Saturday, August 18, 2012, for a Barn Raising and Code Sprint to benefit the Arroyo SECO Network of Time Banks! We are also having an open meeting of the Time Bank Tech Team the evening before on Friday, August 17, 2012 that you are welcome to attend.
There's something for everyone at this event. If you're interested in learning more about Drupal and getting some practical hands-on experience, or if you're a Drupal power user and would like to help mentor others into using Drupal's best practices for site development, this is an excellent opportunity.
The Arroyo SECO Network of Time Banks is a non-profit community collective with a mission to facilitate the cooperative exchange of goods and services among its members. Since September 2011, the Arroyo SECO Network of Time Banks has been using Drupal to manage their community website at http://arroyoseco.timebanks.org and its currency system.
At this barn raising, we'll be improving Community Weaver and creating features. The work we do will be shared with TimeBanks USA, which will directly benefit the 400+ time banks that have their own sites that use the same Drupal distribution.
This is our third barn raising for the time bank. See http://ex.tl/ZTT for more information about our previous barn raising and code sprint.

The next general Downtown Los Angeles Drupal meetup is on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 and will be at Droplabs, your FREE Drupal event and coworking space in Downtown Los Angeles. Those interested in attending this meetup remotely are welcome to join us via WebEx.
Featured presentations at this meetup include a case study by Steve Rifkin (@steverifkin) and Stacey Rifkin (@HardCards) on the Hard Cards marketing and e-commerce website, which uses Drupal, Ubercart, terrific design and IA, and custom theming to bring it all together. The presentation will focus on administering a Drupal site from a beginner's stand point and both the positive and negative experiences that come with that.
What are Hard Cards, you ask? In short, they're hysterical, 100% recycled greeting cards that will make you pee in your pants.
