This is the kickoff meeting for a second spin of the Pro Drupal 7 Development Study group. Welcome to old and new attendees. Click the Signup button at http://groups.drupal.org/node/220264#signup to join this study group's mailing list.

This group discusses the subject matter of book, points out the errors in the book and discusses the differences between Drupal 6 and Drupal 7. There is no preparation for this week's group, but be prepared to read at least 2 chapters of the book for the following week.

The next Downtown LA Drupal meetup is on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 and will be at Droplabs, a Drupal event and coworking space in Downtown Los Angeles. At this meetup, we'll be featuring two presentations: Building an AJAX-driven Application in Drupal and State of the Drop: Live from DrupalCon Denver!

This Friday, March 30, 2012, we're offering a 3-hour workshop on an introduction to the Drupal content management system and what you need to know when using Drupal for your next website. No prior experience with Drupal is necessary.

Jumpstart your project with a solid approach! We'll help you turn your ideas into concrete action items by guiding you through the steps to organize your project.

This is a free workshop and seating is limited. You'll have access to the experts at Exaltation of Larks — a Drupal strategy, consulting, development and training company in Los Angeles — learn about Drupal, and have a fun time!

It is being held at Droplabs, a Drupal-friendly coworking and event space in Los Angeles, and is scheduled to coincide with Drupal Coworking Friday, also at Droplabs the same day.

Droplabs is happy to take part in Drupal Coworking Friday, a worldwide event spurred in part by the DrupalEasy Podcast #65 which featured Droplabs. We're in Downtown Los Angeles and are happy to host anyone in our local community or who is just passing through for some coworking, networking and collaboration on the last Friday of each month for some coworking. This event is free!

While every day is a Drupal coworking day at Droplabs, we're doing something different on Drupal Coworking Fridays and will provide light food and drinks all day. These are being hosted by Christefano and Paul Chernick, two of the Droplabs founders.

After the day is over, a group of us will go to a nearby restaurant or pub. In the past we've had beers and a bonfire and were serenaded by Skrillex. We've also gone to a variety of other locations, including Barbara's at The Brewery (at 620 Moulton Ave., just a 5 minute walk away) and Carnitas Michoacan (on 1901 N. Broadway, just a 5 minute drive away).

Join some passionate Drupalers at Droplabs near Downtown L.A. for a work session as we work on our respective projects. While it does not have to be your own startup project that you are working on necessarily, the project should be one in which you're passionate enough to need the support of your fellow Drupalers to motivate you to the end.

Normally our meetings have been more conversational, yet this will be a true "barn-raising" work session where we help each other with Drupal get our projects up and running.

We've planned a site visit to Big Art Labs on February 1, 2012, at 4pm, to determine if it will work as the venue for the Drupal Design Camp we're planning for May, 2012.

Does Big Art Labs sound familiar? If you've been to any of the meetups, job fairs, free coworking days or launch parties at Droplabs, then you've already been to Big Art Labs. Please be sure to arrive at Droplabs on time. We will be going on a tour of Big Art Labs' facilities promptly at 4pm.

In the tradition of other site visits that we've gone on, this visit is open to anyone and is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in starting to help organize this event.
