ELMS

At iMindsX we have been working on integrating Drupal with Learning Locker for a while now. We created a custom distribution for blended learning, and detailed analytics are very important. Last month, we made the set of integration modules that allows sending xAPI statements to Scorm Cloud and Learning Locker (developed by Matthias van Parijs, Nikos Verschore and Devan Chase) for various actions performed on the blended learning site. The coolest features are video player interaction for Youtube and Vimeo and Quiz integration.

Just a quick community note about some momentum in projects that often times directly benefit the drupal edtech community.

Drupalcon was a great leep forward for education. Drupal is taking off in k-12, university and private sector training usage for the delivery of educational materials. A mixed group of people passionate about education and training got together for a learning management system (LMS) BoF at Drupalcon. Today we released a new version of ELMS which starts to branch it out into our vision of 3 separate distributions for education. https://elms.psu.edu/ Has all the details and has been completely redone around our new UI for the system. Many of the issues from Alpha 3 have been resolved but this is a fundamentally different system in just about every way. The focus is still on course content but the instructional designer administrative layer helps set the stage that other educational distributions can be built off of.

First things first, Ive just started with the ELMS distro, and have to say thanks to all who put in this effort.

Im hoping for some learning resources to get me started. I am experienced with Drupal, but not ELMS systems. I know what I need to do with this Drupal ELMS distro, but from a few hours of hunting, cant find very much in the way of documentation/Users Guide/Tutorials...

Anyone have some links to share?

I've been rambling / showing off aspects of these two modules for almost 1 and a 1/2 years now and FINALLY they have been completely rewritten in an open way. They are two separate modules though I'd recommend using them together as that's how they've been tested fully. They are currently being used during our active semester in 4 courses and so far results have been very positive. If you're looking to do online assessment with Drupal, this is a big component and I hope that I can integrate my solution with other projects discussed in this group.

I started throwing together a flickr photostream for all the courses that the e-Learning Institute is offering. I've been asked a bunch for access to courses (which is coming soon, we've started to align our infrastructure up for it) but until then screenshots will have to do.

If anyone is interested in getting any of these please let me know, we'd really like to start cleaning these themes up by removing penn state / course specific marks and releasing them on drupal.org but interest in doing so will also dictate how quickly that happens.
