BAD Ass Drupal meet up (Jan 2013)
We've decided we should do this Drupal meetup we planned at the Eagle rather than our office.
I can update everyone on a couple of things we've done since we last met at miggle re getting the Drupal word out and it'd be good to see if there are any more thoughts on what we might be able to do in Brighton this year.
The apprentice stuff that Hedley Smith posted about was interesting. Would like to discuss that, having tried that route before.
7pm good for anyone who's up for it? Snow allowing of course...

As the nights draw in and the days get colder, what better way to spend an autumnal monday evening than with your favourite drupal friends and colleagues and a nice cold beer, wine or soft beverage?
If there are some of you that haven't attended yet (and I know there most be a few amongst our 900 members) please do pop down and see what all the fuss is about. We're a friendly bunch of developers, project managers, business folk and general enthusiasts discussing all things drupal, web, devops and software.
Things get going around 7pm (and often before) and we'll be there until close.

Planning Brighton Drupal meetups... when's the next one people want?
Now our second camp is out of the way it's time to organise the next few months meetings. Alick has kindly offered to run one of them, starting on 3rd Monday of Oct:
http://groups.drupal.org/node/254888
Next Monday is usually our 1st of the month meetup - anyone want to organise a pub or otherwise meet?
I'm purposely not organising these now, it's up to YOU! What meetings do you want? When do you want them? Could you organise one or two?
{goes to look at prices for flights...}

We're planning to host a few of the regular Monday night meet ups at our miggle office - starting with this one.
The idea is that if we arrange one meeting a quarter, then other businesses or individuals who use Drupal in the area might be able to follow suite - basically to help share the load of running the local group, which we all benefit from.
I also think doing this might simulate involvement from a wider range of people. - i.e. from a general miggle dev perspective we're not always that visible at regular meet ups - less chance of that happening if we host it!

It's that back to school time again. As you readjust from a summer holidays, sunshine, olympics and DrupalCon, we're here to make the transition a little more enjoyable. Come join us for a drink and chat about Drupal, web, technology and anything that crosses your mind. Feel free to pop in anytime between 7 and 11pm.
If you haven't attended yet, now is the time to try! We're a diverse mix of drupal developers, hobbyists, business owners, designers and miscellaneous geeks. There is no format to the evening, just turn up and talk to someone.

Not sure if we have Skiff booked this evening and in any case, I don't know the form there. So it's Eagle unless someone else who's joining tonight is a dead cert for getting in to the Skiff.
To discuss:-
Finalise accepted sessions and running order
Review plans for weekender. What still needs to be sorted out? Who's going to do what.
Brighton DrupalCamp Sessions - *Draft* Schedule
I've been working on a draft schedule today as I've had some time due to locking myself out of admin privileges on Drupal Branding and Marketing Committee group which I'm working on - d'oh!
Those who can are meeting up tomorrow - there's another writing club thingy which means we'll be kinda stuck in the newskiff bit again unless we're ok with the pub. I'm happy to save time and discuss on here so more people can join in - there's just stuff to do so ploughing through it so please do let me know your thoughts:

Hi!
Our BAD Ass Drupal Weekender is shaping up to be another corker! I did a push the other day to get people to publish what sessions they are going to do and had a fantastic response - we now have 15 sessions proposed, including one which will be via the interwebs from Austin, TX.

Are you a PR person? Do you work with a PR person? Do you know a PR person who is connected in the Brighton area?
Let me know thanks, need to spread the word a little wider and even though it's late in the day for this year it's good to get the word out and make connections for future events.
Much appreciated,
Steve

With less than three weeks to go until BADCampUK we have only 3 submitted sessions, one of them mine :D
Please over the next day or two submit sessions - doesn't have to be a lot of detail, just an overview. It would be great to see all the Drupal people in Brighton do sessions and show how big Drupal already is in Brighton and connect the community together, and with those who are interested in what this Drupal thing is.
If I had money, I'd offer bribes, but I don't so I won't.

With our next BAD Ass Camp fast approaching I thought it might be a good idea for us to have our own IRC channel so I set up #drupal-brighton.
I'm logged into IRC most days so if you're around pop in say lo!
I also set up a new group where I'm posting what I'm up to each day. There's no rules, so random stuff welcome.

Yes, I am going to purposely make a silly acronym for everything :D
As with Drupal itself, there is never one answer for what type of events we need for Drupal. Then there's timing - some people can't make Mondays, some can't make evenings, etc. I'm a great believer in what one of the Drupal London guys said in Munich about having more, smaller events. That doesn't mean we shouldn't have the big ones too, but we can achieve more being small pieces loosely joined.
