Indiana

We encourage users to post events happening in the community to the community events group on https://www.drupal.org.
This group should probably have more organizers. See documentation on this recommendation.

Chat with us! Thanks to Neil (IndyTechCook) we now have an #indianapolis channel in the Drupal Slack Workspace!
If you're not already using Drupal Slack, I highly recommend you join at https://drupalslack.herokuapp.com/
Once you sign up and join the Drupal Slack Workspace, click on CHANNELS and you'll see a search interface.
As you begin to enter "indianapolis" you will see #indianapolis appear in the list and you can click it to join.

How/When We Started: The Indy Drupal Users Group started meeting in January of 2008. Since that time we've ranged from meeting once a month, to twice a month, to infrequently. We've had instructional meetups, guest speakers, some hack-a-thons, and even pulled off 2 DrupalCamps.
We haven't had a meetup since Feb 2016.

OLD NEWS: The IndyDrupal Meetup.com Page has been closed. We will be using this forum from now on.
In April 2018 I asked our 251 MeetUp.com members if they wanted to do a meetup and got little response.

Evansville Drupal Group Starting

Hey guys, Looking at starting a drupal group up here in southern indiana. There are a couple options for locations, days to meet up and what not. I am very much interested in seeing who would like to start up a group for drupal guys down south. Initially it would probably be a couple meetings to see what we want to get out of it, what as a group we want to learn, and then we will go from there.

Let me know what you think, my email is chris@chrismcintoshdesigns.com and phone is 812-602-3712.

Thanks,
Chris

Lafayette meetup?

I know that there are several of us who live in Lafayette or West Lafayette and work with Drupal. Would any of you be interested in starting a Lafayette meetup? I think that we could probably meet at my church if we need a decent size room. Let me know what you think.

Blogs of Indy Testing

I've been working on a RSS aggregation site called blogs of indy. The basic concept was to categorize the content by the posts instead of by the feeds. I'm almost ready for a beta release but I need some test blogs. If anyone would be interested in contributing content for testing, please create an account on my staging server http://blogsofindy.hostingbyhastings.com. Then create a Feed using the "CREATE FEED" link in the menu. Once this is done, I will map the content then refresh the feed.

Comments are welcome.

Neil

Who comes to the Indy Drupal meetups?

While the last meeting was well attended, there were some "regulars" and "long standing" members who weren't able to make it. I have been asked how things are going and who's attending. To that end I offer this post. My goal is to represent the demographics of the group in an accurate way. Please correct any misinformation appearing here.
Our last meeting on January 12th saw the widest spread assortment of Indiana Drupalers we have ever had. Shawn and Josh from Lafayette and Aaron from Bloomington, and Seth [amazing presenter that he is] hailing from Muncie.

Next Meeting

Last meeting 1/12: one of our biggest ever! Thanks in large part to the brothers-Dudenhofer! CONGRATS: James Moriarty & Neil Hastings! Winners of the O'Reilly Lullabot book : "Using Drupal" Looking forward: Should we shoot for a 1/26 meetup? If so, what should we discuss? Do we need to take a step back and cover some more common Drupal topics like taxonomy, path auto, user permissions, user profiles... etc??? What do you want [or NEED] to hear about? Let's talk about it.

Lost Links - Help?

I've discovered an odd issue with my site ( dudenhofer.com ). I've noticed that my sidebar links aren't working. When I check the code, it still generates the "a href" tags, however, none of the links are active. The mouse doesn't even change to a hand like what is common for links when you roll over them. Granted, this is pretty much a testing site for trying new things, but any ideas where I could have removed the link functionality?

Bending Zen Presentation

Sorry for the wait... Here is a link to the power point file from the Bending Zen presentation at the last Drupal Indy meetup. I will post the screen cast when I can get it finished. I will be walking through the complete creation of a theme starting with the Zen Theme. For now, at least you can reference the information that was the intro to the presentation.

The Power Point file is attached, and here is where I posted it on my blog.

Cloud Camp Indianapolis

I got this on the RoR group, and thought it might be worth a note here....

BlueLock (www.bluelock.com), a Indianapolis Cloud Computing
company is sponsoring a national IT event: Cloud Camp
Indianapolis. Cloud Computing has quickly taken over the IT
industry and I am confident that many of your members would
find this to be a great opportunity. I’ve attached the press
release for more information. Cloud Camp Indianapolis is
basically an “unconference” forum for anyone interested in
cloud computing. Other Cloud Camp events are taking place in

Video RSS feeds

Not sure if anyone else has been trying to do this. But, I have been trying to display RSS feeds with the actual videos they contain. I thought I was going to have to create a module to do this, but you do not.

Modules you need:

feed api
feed api mapping
emfield (embedded media)
CCK

http://www.drupaltherapy.com/node/34

This video then shows you how exactly to set it up.

You will need to create a video field first...which this video shows you how to do that:

Local Drupal Powered Online Game: Handbellhero.com

Hello All!

I wanted to make the last DrupalIndy meeting, but the weather was too much!

Anyway, since then I have published our company's first Drupal web site. It's our holiday card to our community. It was an interesting site because we had to integrate Flash and Drupal on a number of levels. Oh, and they gave me three days to make this happen. Me and the designer were up all night the night before it was due.

We modified the Blue Curve theme and started with the Acquia distribution (less modules to download, easier to upgrade).

Drupal Indy Meetup: January 12

Start:
2009-01-12 18:00 - 20:00 America/Indiana/Indianapolis
Organizers:
Event type:
User group meeting

Hey Indy Drupalers! We did a vote on the next meetup and January 12 won the majority. We're going to be discussing using CVS for Drupal updates and meeting at Promethius Consulting. If you would like to get in on this and the potential of a CVS vs. SVN discussion, sign up!! There will also be other topics up for discussion. Last meetup, we had 2 "rookie Drupal presenters" start discussions on Theming with Zen and local XAMPP setup. It seemed to get some really good response. Post here if you have an idea for discussion, or would like to take a crack at presenting on a topic.

My first Drupal Module

I did it. A huge milestone in my Drupal development life. I completed my first custom module. While at this point it would only work on my site (I hard coded the name of content types and some other variables from the notification module) but it works. I have attached it but know that you can’t just add it to your site. At minimum you might have to change the name of the feed-item content type on line 85.

Convert PSD files to Drupal Themes

I found a very interesting resource that coverts a psd file to a Drupal theme. psdtocss (http://psd2cssonline.com/) online claims to accomplish this from their website.

Example site:

Here are a few screencasts from the created.
