The Media group is the working group for the Drupal 7 File entity module, Media module and all the various modules that extend Media. The Media group is a place for all interested parties to collaborate and discuss anything related to the Drupal Media "ecosystem".
DrupalCon Denver 2012 - Media Initiative Sprint
The Media initiative will be holding an in-person and virtual sprint the Friday after DrupalCon Denver.
We will probably be split up into several different concurrent tasks:
- 1.0 blocker issues
- 2.x issues and test cases
- Drupal core issues
- Documentation

Media Initiative goals needed due to D8 feature freeze Dec 1
Dries announce today, http://buytaert.net/drupal-8-code-freeze-december-1st-2012, that December 1st is feature freeze for Drupal 8.
That is in 9.5 months and if we are going to have a good chance of getting much needed file and media management into core, then we need to start working on what the goal is.
I'm not a coder, but I hardly believe it is as simple as just moving for example the File Entity module to /core/modules. Especially considering that when it is in core and 8.0 is out, very little will change.

There are quite a few repeating issues popping up in the Media queue, such as all those about users not getting a video player working. In many cases it turns out they are under the impression Media comes with support for this. In other cases their problems should be dealt with in the module providing the integration.
A FAQ would help us keep the queue cleaner, and at the same time be a great resource for users to find answers to common problems they face.

I have created a Media Support Squad feature module that enables all needed modules, plus Admin menu, to quickly be able to start testing for example patches.
As an added bonus it comes with Text formats and WYSIWYG profiles for both CKEditor and TinyMCE so you easily can test that too.
You can download or clone it from http://drupal.org/sandbox/tsvenson/1428994. The project page contains instructions on how to install and enable it.
If your quick, you should have a new Media enabled site up in just a few minutes, ready for testing patches and other things.

Does/will OpenPublish on Drupal 7 have (acquia) media module?
Does OpenPublish on Drupal 7 have the acquia media module - this module provides excellent photography gallery handling, including extremely easy to use uploading - multiple photos at a time.
If not, will it include it?
If not including it, then can I add it without incompatibility issues with OpenPublish image handling?
Does OpenPublish image/photo handling have better features than Acquia media module?
I think the acquia media module is excellent and would be inclined to think providing yet another image handling module would reinvent the wheel.
