Media

The Media group is the working group for the Drupal 7 File entity module, Media module and all the various modules that extend Media. The Media group is a place for all interested parties to collaborate and discuss anything related to the Drupal Media "ecosystem".

What is the most recommended solution for someone who wants to go live right now but prepare for the future?

May I ask: For a developer who wants a live (D7) site, can they theoretically use audiofield, video, and any one of the image modules to let users attach and display rich media in posts now while reasonably expecting a future path to integration with the media module? - I want users to be able to add audio, video, or images in whatever format and then presented to the site viewers. I'm confused as to whether media can do any of this now. I would also like to have them transcoded to mp3 or h.264 but I don't believe this is possible at this moment correct?

Presenting Media in Drupal - Dallas Drupal Days 2011 presentation

For those interested, I just completed a talk at the Dallas Drupal Days conference here in Dallas TX where I talked about presenting media in Drupal 7. I recorded this video so that anybody who did not attend can watch it. This presentation goes over the awesome combination of Drupal 7 + Media module + MediaFront and HTML5 multimedia within Drupal 7.

One of the most interesting things I learned in giving the presentation was how few designers had seen the Media WYSIWYG integration.

Where do Derivatives Belong in the D7 Media Ecosystem?

Inspired (guilted) by the recent discussions about private planning sessions on the development list and the number of posts to the How to help get Media to 1.0 release and beyond issue @tsvenson started back in January, I wanted to get this posted sooner rather than later. I've shown this graphic and discussed the structure with several people involved in large media sites, but most of these discussions have been happening in person or over email.

Can Media be uninstalled?

I love what media is and what it wants to become. However it just isn't jiving with my plans just yet.

Am I able to uninstall the latest dev without issues ? If not what would be a best practice for hiding it.

HTML5 media project underway

I know it is a long time coming, but I have just created the home base for the HTML5 media initiative. http://drupal.org/project/html5_media

This project has one goal. To bring a standardized, Open Source GPL front end media solution to Drupal core. This project is completely open and has no other intentions other than to provide a standard front end media solution that will benefit the entire Drupal community, so therefore, whoever would like to help in this initiative is welcome to contribute!

Major issues getting Media 7 to work

I'm desperate for help. Jacob/Aaron/OtherGuru, can I hire you for an hour? You might save my sanity.

Flickr:
1) I've got Media, media_flickr enabled & key/secret config'd, media_youtube
2) I added a Multimedia content type with a field of type Multimedia Asset that allows all media types and all URI schemes (flickr, youtube, public).
3) When I add a piece of content using a Flickr URL, e.g,. http://www.flickr.com/photos/85257998@N00/4956141659/
4) I save the content, the image appears as blank.

Error when inserting image via WYSIWYG

I have a site where I like to insert an image from the library to a page via the WYSIWYG. It works fine, but as soon as I preview or saves the page the image is not displayed but replaced with this:

It seems something is not configured right.

Can someone kind person help me please. I have used 4 hours researching but with no result.

While there were several Media related project proposed, only one made the list of 20 Google Summer of Code projects approved by both Drupal and Google. Janez Urevc's Derivates API for Media project will...

...implement Derivates API for Media Library (Media, Styles, ...) ecosystem in Drupal 7. This API will provide a flexible, extensible and abstract API to implement derivation engines for different types of files.

Playlists in Drupal 7?

I'm trying to create an audio library similar to this with Drupal 7. While I've replicated a good deal of functionality using Views, Media, and jPlayer, I'm stuck on the playlist functionality. Any suggestions on how to do this in Drupal 7? Example again below:

Media is a module which has been in development for several years. The goal is to provide a light Digital Asset Management solution for Drupal. This means fields on files, interfaces for browsing and embedding files and the ability to reference media all over the internet. FTP Upload into Media

Has anyone had any luck connecting using the media module to process media uploaded into a specific folder?
I've got 300 photos I'd like to add to a gallery, but I want to put the files on the server through SSH, not through the Media module's plupload uploader, which I can't get working anyway.

Any suggestions?

What you should know about D7 Video module

D7 video module has been arrived and having huge usage over last couple of days, even I could see lot of hits to my documentation site, so it means a lot of people are using it, that's obvious cause video module is the one and only complete video solution we had since Drupal 4.7. So you might keen to know how handy D7 video module is?.

Basically, we left some configuration interfaces as it is to protect consistency :o). Major changes areas are highlighted.
