Emfield and Daily Motion

Hey,
I see emfield branch 1.x has built-in support for most media providers, including Daily Motion. I see that from 2.x branch this support have moved to external projects. I don't find Daily Motion in the list of modules although here http://drupal.org/project/emfield it states it has support for Daily Motion, and it had on 1.x versions.

Video and Media module, in future how do they play togethor? are they friends?

Yes, we have already started developments of the video module and working hard to release a stable version very soon. So the D7 video module will be the most advanced video solution for D7. We will continue all the D6 features set and adding new features like editable presets and export compatibility with ChosTools, Features modules blah blah.

Facebook integration for Media Module

All,
Has anyone had any experience hooking into Facebook to allow a user to pull photos from their profile (other than just their profile photo) to use in a site? We're brainstorming an image aggregation site for the University and seeing as pretty close to 100% of students now use and post photos to FB, this would be a really key ingredient.

I've seen http://drupal.org/project/media_facebook but it looks like the maintainer isn't actively working on it and has no current plans for a D7 port. Is there anyone else for whom this would be of value?

Video Clip as an Opening Page for a Website?

Hello Everyone,

First of all, I apologize if this is not the correct place to ask. I am new to this group, and also relatively new to Drupal. I made a site at my local computer and everything seems going well. I have one functionality, though, that I can't implement because I really don't know how to do it. I have been searching and reading posts here in drupal.org and also googled it for the past 2 days, but can't find any answer. Maybe I'm just typing the wrong search phrases.

Desktop/browser editors - Drupal WYSIWYG & specific modules

.
Started with this post: Add editor: XStandard (+ other desktop/browser side plug-ins?). Add info & edit to get more structured. Researching for solutions eating lesser server resources, so a desktop/browser side plug-in might be the solution. I haven't seen another like (the quality of) XStandard. But then I found many other browser/desktop editors:

Trying to understand some fundamentals

I’m an intermediate Drupal user at best and i am certainly not a developer. I’m trying to get a handle on Drupal 7’s media handling and file structure. If this is not the appropriate place to post this question, any help in directing me to the right place would be very helpful.

Let me start with some general questions and then maybe i’ll be able to articulate some questions about specific uses of the module.

  1. What precisely is a media asset? That is, it’s neither a node, nor a taxonomy term, comment, etc. So what is it? A new entity? Is its proper name “media asset”? Will it find its way into things like the “Terminology” page?
  2. How do/will media assets relate to Taxonomy? That is, it is possible to assign terms to media, but are/will media assets be searchable and discoverable like nodes?
  3. How do/will media assets relate to URL aliases? That is, can the option to apply replacement patterns to media assets be expected, the same way replacement patterns are applied to content paths, taxonomy term paths and user paths? Is this simply an issue for the Pathauto/Token modules?

To the extent that i understand Media module, it seems like it could have some too-good-to-be true uses, but i want to make sure i’m actually getting it and not just sticking my amateur nose where it doesn’t belong. Thanks for any insight!

How does one add fields to Media entitities

I love the concept of the Media module, but I'm having trouble wrapping my brain around image entities. I see that I can add fields each entity type at "admin/config/media/types/manage/image/fields" but how do I USE those fields? When I upload an image using the Media toolbar icon in Wysiwyg, I want to be able to enter a caption and image source, so that they show up under the uploaded image.

How does one go about getting these new entity fields to show up when uploading??? I think we need some new documentation for this. :-)

Drupal 7 Crowdsourced Release Video

Drupal 7 has cost enormous blood, sweat and tears. Now's the time for celebrating. And hey, there are the release partys. To combine this with marketing, there is something else we could do. The style of this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q48gzc-sl_8 struck me.

How about the following: Everybody records a video of himself or/and his pals or an even bigger group. One part consists of what Drupal 7 means to him personally. In the second part, we count down from 60 to 0, using a watch to synchronize the speed. This does not have to be all the way, ten numbers somewhere between 60 and 0 are enough. The final picture is a big "Drupal 7 is released".

What can I provide: helping market the campaign, talk to people to tweet about it, write a blogpost on the planet, get more people to write blogposts.

What I cannot provide: Video editing. Somebody proficient in video editing needs to step up. This person is doing the lions share of the work, for sure. But wouldn't that be cool and emotional...

Working title: "Seven is seconds away"

Media module and comments on individual media entities

Hi,
I've started to test the new media module (beta 2) and must say that this looks very promising.
But I can't figure out how to enable comments on individual media entities in the gallery. Is this possible, or is this still not implemented?

cheers,

Jørgen

HTML5 Video Player for Drupal

VideoJS is an HTML5 Video Player with 3 core parts: An embed code (Video for Everybody), a Javascript library (video.js), and a pure HTML/CSS skin (video-js.css).

Using Video for Everybody as the embed code means you know it’s compatible with many devices (including ones without javascript).

The javascript library fixes browser & device bugs, and makes sure your video is even more compatible across different browser versions.

OpenBlock Geolocation Hack-a-thon at MIT Media Lab

MIT and Hacks/Hackers are hosting an OpenBlock hack-a-thon Oct. 30 at noon. Why should local Drupalists care?

OpenBlock by itself is an interesting news aggregator, but it's various components, which can be de-coupled, could be very cool, doing everything from auto-geotagging content, very customizable mapping, and much more. Tapping into these components could help a lot of Drupal sites I've seen.
