Focus
The first day of our sprint is solely focused on issues that are blocking a stable 7.x-1.0 release of the media module. Most of these issues need to be fixed in 7.x-2.x first and then back-ported to 7.x-1.0. The current list is at http://lb.cm/media-1x-blockers.
Goals
- Get coordinated and rolling
- To be able to roll a 7.x-1.0-rc1 release at the end of sprinting today.
Agenda
- Introductions
- Make sure everyone is on same page with using issue queues
- Discuss how to coordinate with IRC and virtual sprinters
- Discuss forming a Media contrib initative
Video module 7.x-2.1-alpha2, what you should know?
Original post : http://heididev.com/video-module-7x-2x-what-you-should-know
I released video module 7.x-2.1-alpha2 version on 11th of Sep. This major version completely redesign the video module and its core, I'm the only one worked on this release and seems our co-maintainers (6.x) had no time to contribute code to the 7.x yet. I'm very very happy about the progress of downloading and using video module. It has over 10,500+ usage now.
In this article I'm going to examine some new features added to the video module.
Read moreAn MP3 or m3u streaming player for Drupal 7
Is there a Drupal 7 module that would play a streaming mp3 or m3u URL to somekind of player. Perhaps the jplayer (http://www.jplayer.org/latest/demos/)
I was thinking of just using a text field, then theming in the jplayer ( or some other ) audio player... but not going to start until I confirm someone else has not already done it.
Also looking for some feedback on it.
perhaps another audio player that I should look at.
Just to be clear... the setup would include a URL... and not include doing a file upload.
Media Group - ToDo's
This is a list of tasks needed to be performed in the Media group. Feel free to add new tasks as well as volunteer to perform them.
- Add columns for 1.x and 2.x branches for the wiki page about modules that extends the Media module (tsvenson).
- Clean up the media group so content/links is up-2-date (tsvenson)
Drupal 7 Media sprint
Many of the current maintainers of the Media module are meeting for a week-long sprint in Chicago on September 24-28 (Saturday to Wednesday) to help push the module to a stable 1.0 release, work on important features for the 2.x branch, and help plan a potential Drupal 8 media initiative.
Because space is very limited, virtual participation in the #drupal-media IRC channel is highly encouraged and welcome! If you are very interested in attending in person, please contact Dave Reid.
Read moreDrupal Gardens for Musicians?
Word on the tweet is there are some musician friendly features growing in Drupal Gardens. Considering modules such as Media and Media Gallery have been improved and/or contributed out of gardens, there could be points of overlap with developing Pushtape features.
This 'could' be a very good thing!?!

Afternoon,
Due to a need at the company I work for, I am starting to put together the use cases for a web services front end to the Media module.

I am looking for the best way to let users upload audio and video content to a site and have it converted to play back in the browser. It seems that FFMPEG is 'the' solution on the back end, as all of these module use it. arthurf created http://drupal.org/project/ffmpeg_wrapper as a common api for FFMPEG but it is not clear to me that any of these modules us it (except Media Mover).

This is a list of modules that extend or build on the Media module. This is NOT a list of all modules that have to do with media in a general sense. Those can be found by filtering the Drupal.org module list.
