Hey guys,

anybody checked out googles chrome browser? I know most of you are running the wormy apple but I tested it on my Win partition and I am pretty impressed. Never saw a nearly perfect browser in beta state.

Chrome is fast, a beauty, has nice features and no disturbing stuff... The biggest bonbon in my point of view is the suggest function in the address bar.

All my sites I ve worked on in the last couple of month are looking fantastic. No CSS glitches nothing. That was my biggest fear so I ve checked them all before the big fishes starting to bark :)

You can check it out here and subscribe for Linux/Mac news...

Have a nice weekend...

Test Only

It's interesting for testing, but you shouldn't run it as primary due to some security issues. As some others have pointed out, it's handy for basic users, but its lack of customizability and extensibility makes it unsuitable for most of us.

I personaly havent read the terms of use, but i heard from one of the group members that chrome has some scary requirements such as any content uploaded to any site through chrome would entitle google to use that content as they please without asking you. << I havent had the time to read it so dont hold me accountable if this is wrong. please check.

Still, it goes to show that even developers don't read their own EULAs ;)

I tried it out is a fast browser but is still in beta and has some really bad bugs. The applications feature is great as it isolates a single web site and treats it as a separate application which is neat feature. It is surprisingly fast.

A couple of things I tought where a little crazy even for a beta product where :
1. It doesn't work with Symantec endpoint protection (even if you set exclusion)
2. It install on the user profile folder in windows which I just think is crazy.

I guess these are reasonable bug to have on a beta product, but the problem with that is that google stamps everything beta so you never quite know if certain things have been through a great amount of testing or not.

it's ok

I played with it for a while. I was pleased, but yet, as a dev I still yearn for mozilla and chrome has a ways to go before it could ever convert me.

My favorite facit of this browser is the javascript. I must say that it's engine is one of the fastest along side mozilla. I know microsoft and adobe are beginning to shake in the knees with silverlight and flash, respectively, as js and jQuery become a powerful force in dynamics and design.

Overall besides the bugs that come with a beta release, chrome did show a lot of advancement in expanding and flourishing the web experience.

Let's see what how they beautify this and be wary of how they capitalize.

The hype

I was really impressed that the people hyping something which is actually in beta and buggy. Since last week I ve got tons of mails where people bothering me to check if their site looks ok in chrome.

I mean when FF 3 came out nobody really cared and there were a lot of changes which were effecting tons of that bad boys sites.

In fact it's fast :) That for sure. But lets see if this stays when you have a bunch of their applications in it :D
