LIGHTNING ROUNDS
New feature. Have a topic you can present in 5 minutes (with 5 more minutes for questions)? The basic idea is there are patterns for developing sites the "drupal" way ("what would drupal do? etc."). Tell us a quick 5 minute recipe for how to put the Drupal "bricks" together. Theming techniques or other things may also be appropriate. Propose it below. Make sure you mention it is for the "lightning round" otherwise it might get confused with a longer presentation.- Views PDF - FatherShawn
- Views infinite pager - ericduran
- Open Lightning Round Topic - Suggest
- Pantheon - skottler
- Drupal 7 Chatroom w/node.js integration - LSU_JBob
- Entermedia DAM module - a bridge to Entermedia from Drupal - jbachana
- n00b BoF - johnvsc
- Open Topic - suggest
Signup Instructions!: 7 World Trade Center security checks your photo id against the list of attendees that we provide. Therefore, if your name is not on the list they will not let you in. Also, Signup closes midnight of the day before the event. We don't have the luxury to add "last minute" attendees.

lightning round or
lightning round or presentation?
node.js++++++
I could make it either
If it was a presentation I could go into what node.js is and how it works and so forth, but I would be repeating myself a little from my first presentation. If it were a lightning round I would just fire up the server and have the backend console on the projector while we all chatted in my sandbox. Either way, if people are interested in a full blown background on node.js I can do that, but if that is boresville I don't mind just doing a lightning round and demo'ing D7 chat.

would love to hear more about node.js! node.js rocks.
+1 for a long presentation
I would prefer the long version since it was a topic that was hard for me to really understand the first time around - so any repetition would be appreciated, actually.
My arm has been twisted
Longer presentation with node.js background it is!

Lightning Round: Views PDF
I bumped into an interesting new module Views PDF that can render the fields from a view and merge it with an existing pdf into a single pdf. Happy to give it a quick spin....

Lightning round or presentation?
Lightning Round
The developer for Tori's Drupal app (otmportfolio.org), rayogram, will likely come do a full presentation on how they implemented it in a couple of months.

Entermedia digital asset management module
Hi,
Was thinking of presenting the integration module that my colleagues and I have worked on here at DPCI. Its a bridge to Entermedia from Drupal (v6). We'll be putting it in a sandbox this month and I'd like to show it to the group to get feedback, particularly as pertains to our D7 (Media Module) plan with this work.
Not sure whether this would fall into a lightning round or one of the general open topics. Also if this isn't a fit for this DUG I can wait a month

I think this is a good idea,
I think this is a good idea, and the DUG is the perfect place for feedback!
It's your call what you want to do with it (re: lightning round vs presentation). Either way, sounds like something you could even have a breakout group with. Let me know and I'll post it :)
re: entermedia DAM module w/in Drupal
I think we'd get a lot out of a presentation - if the group felt this didn't fit the agenda I'd do it as a breakout, although since we're really planning for DAM support within Drupal 7, it would be great to get the general DUG's feedback...

Way interested in Entermedia
Entermedia is a pretty slick & usable management system, I'd be interested in seeing examples of integration efforts.

will take place too :)

I'll do a lightning talk if we don't get enough other sessions proposed.
The lightning talk will be on Views Infinite Pagers (not the module) just a general talk about whats available and what are some drawbacks of each.
Modules cover: Views Infinite Pager, Views Infinite Scroll, and Views Load More.
Time: 5 mins.

Time to get started!
So I've got a lot to learn about working with Drupal. Looking forward to some excellent meeting and learning! :)

Freelancer Payment Protection Act Update?
I've was up in Albany this past Tuesday lobbying for the Freelancer Payment Protection Act which allows independent workers to be protected from non-payment by the Department of Labor (S4129/A6698).
Wondering if anyone would like a quick synopsis? I know it's not Drupal-centric but I'm sure there are at least a few freelancers in attendance who would ultimately benefit. (Oh and any phone calls people can make to their senators would help make it happen!)
Yes Please!
I would love to hear about this legislation. Thanks for lobbying, it's an amazingly good cause for our whole community, freelancers or FTE's :-)
Definitely! I would love to

views gallery for d7
I like to do a presentation using Drupal 7 to create an image gallery. This will be a simple gallery but one that can be extended to be complex and I'll go over that briefly but the presentation will just show how it's possible to glue these modules together for a per-user and or single user gallery of images.
Total time: 10-15mins.
Core/Modules used:
drupal-7.x
views-7.x-3.x-dev
eva-7.x-1.x-dev
nodereference_url-7.x-1.x-dev
yoxview-7.x-1.x-dev

Live usability testing
If someone has a site they're building and would like to observe a live usability test, that could take up a presentation slot. I can moderate, but we'd need a site to test, and a volunteer tester.
I've done this session in several camp presentations / bofs now and the last one at dcnyc9 was a lot of fun. We could just do a single short test (scenario + 3 tasks) to keep it short.
This is something I should have planned out awhile ago; definitely would like to do it at a future meetup if we can't fit it in this time.

Just Finished! Wooden Laser Engraved Drupal Reference Cards...
i was going to do this last month but didnt have time to do so, but wanted to test this out and see whats the feedback on these. I usually have to look these variables up all the time and sometimes i have them printed out but it gets lost in the piles of paper i have on my desk. So i decided to give this a try, and i think its pretty hot... i'll be making some to give away today, so if your interested just reply below to get an idea of how many i might need to bring in. I guess I can announce this as a lightning round? This is good for people that don't know the page and node tpl's by heart yet.

Those are amazingly hot. Nice! Are they available for those that know the variables?
Great project! Do you plan on doing a lightening round on the process of making them? A +1 from me in advance.
im not sure if i can make
im not sure if i can make that many for everyone tomorrow. Last i counted I only cut out like 10 wooden pages. That one alone took like 30 minutes to carve out, i have an old machine. I'll see what i can do.
As for giving them out. I guess the first 5 that reply here will get one and the other 5 ill just give them out on a first come first basis.. just keep in mind these are just prototypes as this is just a rough draft I did. I'm planning to make a more updated and useful drupal cheatsheet as the ones online now are too bloated with other stuff. I was hoping to engrave these with profont to see how it comes out.

I can't make it tonight, sadly, but these are extremely cool.
