DrupalCon Denver NYC Metro Area Roll Call!

First time DrupalCon goer and brand new DrupalNYC participant here. Definitely interested in dinner, but unfortunately flying back already on Friday morning.

Here are some restaurant suggestions. Does anyone have a preference or other suggestions?

Ted's Montana Grill

This well-known Denver restaurant was founded by media mogul Ted Turner. While people don't often use the words "steak house" and "eco-friendly" in the same sentence, the restaurant prints its menus on recycled paper and has a goal of becoming 99-percent plastic-free. The restaurant offers a variety of made-from-scratch entrees, which include premium beef and National Bison Association-certified bison. It is also famous for its creative burgers, which come in variations such as blue cheese and jalapeno. Prices are moderate. Elway's

Founded by former Bronco's quarterback John Elway, this restaurant is famous for its USDA hand-cut steaks as well as its popular raw-food bar. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, brunch and dinner. Given its location in the Ritz Carlton Hotel, it is pricey and formal. Capital Grille

This popular dining venue is known for its large, dry-aged steaks, which are paired with an extensive wine list. Some people simply enjoy its unique Art Deco decor. Emil-Lene's Sirloin House

Not all of Denver's steak houses are formal and upscale. The Brokers Restaurant

The Keg Steak House & Bar

The Buckhorn Exchange

This is an excellent choice if you are interested in visiting a museum as well as eating at a steakhouse. Its hunting-lodge decor features artifacts from Denver's cowboy days, and the restaurant specializes in steak, elk, quail and salmon. Sullivan's Steakhouse

This is another place where a friendly, knowledgeable staff complements a solid menu. The waitstaff will ask you about your taste preferences and make entree suggestions based on your answers. This traditional, upscale restaurant is located in the historic Union Pacific Railway building. Would also love a bike ride around Denver, if the pace is kept at a manageable level ie more in the name of tourism than sports.

But yes, let's setup a NYC DrupalCon dinner!

Lisarex is right in that there's loads of people we get to see only 1x/year from all over the world. However, it also can be a little lonely at Drupalcon, particularly for people going for the first time. Thus, an NYC meet up would be nice, even if just as a BoF. Another suggestion might just be an early meet up for coffee or breakfast one morning.

As for cycling, I promise it would be just a touring thing. Forssto+Steven, I'll hit you both up off g.d.o with some ideas, did some research on rental places that in a pinch we could get bikes from on a lark in the unlikelihood of us finding ourselves time to do a ride there...

++ for dinner and biking, I'll keep an eye on IRC for details. Can someone forward me the biking info too Im very into that idea

I'm originally from NYC but moved to Denver so I have a good level of familiarity with the city.
A couple of tips:

• There is a free shuttle bus that runs up and down the 16th Street Mall (AKA the Mall Ride), which stops at every intersection on the mall. It runs way past the times that the bars close (2am). Most downtown hotels are within walking distance of the convention center.

• From the airport to downtown(in descending order of cost): you can take a cab, Super Shuttle or RTD's "AF" bus.

• Denver does have a bike-sharing program so you can get out and pedal. There are also trails along the rivers that run throughout Denver which can be bicycled, jogged, walked without vehicular interruption.

• To oystercrackher's point: these are some great restaurants. There is also Little India, Appaloosa Grill, The Yardhouse, Maggiano's, Oceanaire and Sushi Sasa.

• Lastly, there is a company called Colorado Mountain Express which offers shuttle service to the mountains if someone wants to ski, board, telemark.

women & men of DrupalNYC ... anybody want to walk, or ride together to party tonight? ...seems pedestrian friendly around these parts :)

First off, I'll meet people at the Hyatt Regency lobby around 7:15pm, anyone who wants to walk or cab over to the party I'll be happy to escort.

Second, I rented a bike from The Bike Doctor www.bicycledr.com. They actually dropped it off in my room last night, its just $10 extra for the drop off. They rented me a Fuji Roubeaux, which isn't a bad road bike. I'm going to try to grab some rides over the next few days whenever I can, but probably best to just DM me if you want to go along.
