So I tried to post to the NYC group, and my posting got flagged by Mollom as spam. There was no captcha, just a message stating:
Your submission has triggered the spam filter and will not be accepted. If you feel this is in error, please report that you are blocked.
I clicked on the link to submit a report to Mollom, but I'm not optimistic about hearing back. At this point I have no idea what aspect of my posting got me blocked, nor how to fix it. What do I do now? Do I just give up, or is there some way to prove that I'm not a spammer?

Maybe your IP address is on a blackhole list
We moved our server and got a new IP address in the process. It had a bad previous history and it took a lot of emails to get it off lists.

Thanks, but I don't think my IP is the culprit, as I'm able to post other messages. I suspect there are some words, or combination of words, in my blocked post that are being flagged by Mollom, but there's no way to tell which ones. I tried rewriting the post a few times, but got the same result. I understand why Mollom doesn't provide clues, which could be used by spammers to work around it, but these false positives wind up preventing legitimate posts. IMHO, it would be more effective to have a set of logical challenge question (e.g. "What's the middle initial in NYC?") than a Captcha or a dead-end block, such as I experienced.

I had the same problem trying to post a job the other day. The most frustrating part is contesting the false positive seems to do nothing. I eventually gave up and didn't post the job.

On our Drupal sites, we typically embed a honeypot field and sometimes a honeypot Captcha. It's cut down on our spam submissions by about 95%, and doesn't generate false positives. I think that might be a more effective approach than Mollom.

This issue presents a serious impediment to the jobs board ever becoming a viable destination for hiring managers and recruiters. I don't think this is really a case of erring on the side of false-positives either, as (in my experience) Mollom has a high rate of false-negatives as well. There are numerous alternatives, but I think politics, more than anything else, is what is keeping Mollom in place. The product is not enterprise quality, nor is the support.
Same problem for us...
We have successfully posted — and recruited and hired — Drupal developers using the Jobs board in the past. Now, we have a new position to fill and Mollom has blocked us! We submitted the report to Mollom, but they are silent and offer no additional means of demonstrating you are not a bot.
Very frustrating and discouraging... and also keeping some member of the Drupal.org community from discovering our opportunity.

I'm a new poster and have a legit freelance position for 250+ hours per year ongoing freelance work in a small business with well established Drupal systems and great backup agency support - and I can't post the job!
Hope they fix this spam block issue.

I tried and failed to post a job several times today. Kind of defeats the purpose when legitimate users are blocked along with spammers.

By my count we've got 7 job
By my count we've got 7 job postings that have been blocked since March, and that's just counting the people that bothered to post to this thread. For every person that posts, there are probably several times that number that don't bother.
There's a real cost to this issue, and it's paid by the companies that use Drupal and the developers who might otherwise find work with them. I hope someone is paying attention and fixes this issue.

I am being blocked by Mollom and no reaction from them. Anybody found a workaround on this? I cannot reply to a respons in the discussion which is quite frustrating...
