Yes, the D8 theme debug is awesome :), we have an open issue to bring it to D7 at least for templates:

Really great!

About version: VERSION, that's just something core adds, the VERSION is the core version, please don't add it to custom code. AFAIK it will run without any version line or just version: 1.0 will do.
