Drupal NYC Meetup - November 2014

I can present a full session on the new beta of DevShop, which, in case you didn't know, is an open source equivalent to pantheon or acquia cloud hosting.

Some sweet new features are:

• Brand new responsive UI.
• Ansible-powered installer.
• Built on Aegir2, which means you can use Drush 6!

I can do a full presentation on realtime apps.

I'll address why realtime apps relevant to Drupal, and some of the challenges/opportunities we face. After that intro, I'll discuss MVX frameworks, with a focus on both PHP and NodeJS options. I'll be sure to touch upon common JS frameworks (eg, EmberJS, BackboneJS, AngularJS, etc), but will focus more so on full stack options (eg., Bladerunner, Derby, Meteor, Sails, SocketStream, etc).

This topic has been coming up all year at prior Drupal meet-ups and DWWH, especially last week -- so I think we're due for a deeper dive now.

I can do a 20 minute show-and-tell on how emBridge works and why we've been working on it the past few years. If there is no room for another main prez, I can turf this to the December or January meet up.

Basically was looking for a solution to get some of the goodness of Views Content Panes a project where Panels was forbidden.

Basically looking at the complexity of payment systems in Drupal and trying to find an alternative. Though this module focuses on PayPal the idea of trying implement a simpler solution would apply other systems as well.

Hey I'm good with moving my prez to December, + that way I can probably get a few guys who've been working on the module to attend w/ me. Willyk why not stick w/ your prez tonight, I can do a couple of minutes just on what we're doing w/ emBridge, then next month go into greater depth. lmk

Not nitpicking here but maybe, Enforcing time limits ensures every one gets a fair chance, so if a presentation especially the 20 mins one's run over(taking like 25-30 mins) then that may take away from other presentations. Also specifying if its 20 mins including the Q&A then the speaker can then account for that time (say wrap up in 15 that way there is 5 mins left for Q&A).

This may also be beneficial for folks attending the first time or from other frameworks, so they do not just hear a lot on 1 nitch drupal topic and instead can maintain their interest over several different topics.

Just my $0.02.
