Event type:
Training (free or commercial)

Come out and play with us!

That means many things to many people:

These play days are for anyone to come in and work on their Drupal projects with other people, to seek help with their projects or if they feel the need to help others. All skill levels are welcomed.

There will be people of all skill levels, and backgrounds that are generally helping one another and getting assistance with issues. Even if you're new come out and ask questions; in a couple of events you'll be answering others' questions I promise.

Saturday, June 20, 2015 @ 11:00 AM to prob 5PM

This is also cross-posted on the Meetup group for NYC Drupal Playdays as well: http://www.meetup.com/NYC-Drupal-Playdays. URL for event = http://www.meetup.com/NYC-Drupal-Playdays/events/223013727/

Drupal JSON/XML

Patrick_McMahon's picture

Have anyone made for example an android app that sends requests to a back end Drupal instance that rather then responding with html pages, would send node data back in the form of JSON and or XML?

I have a small project i'm building in my extra time that i want to use Drupal as the back end to my android app. I was thinking with java i can simple use the url object to send post get requests to the Drupal instance and Drupal would return its data in JSON that will then be parsed by my java code.

Hi Patrick, You can use

Hi Patrick,

You can use services module or you can create a view with nid as arguments and return value as xml.

Thank you

Thank you bapi_22 I'll review the services module. I have not used that module yet for any projects. Ill see if I can locate some tutorials online to use this module. If I find any useful data or after getting it working, i'll post a page on drupal.org about how to get something like this setup for anyone else wanting to use Drupal for a back end for a mobile application.
