Commerce 2.x and Recurring Billing by Bojan Živanović

Contributors from around the world gathered in DrupalCon Vienna to celebrate the release of Commerce 2.0 together. Since then the project has begun a "release a month" schedule for core updates, but the most significant work has happened in contrib via a collaboration with UK based agency Torchbox. Together, Commerce Guys and Torchbox have ported the recurring billing functionality from Commerce 1.x to Drupal 8 and expanded upon its feature set to make Commerce 2.x one of the most robust open source recurring billing solutions. This session includes a high level update on the status of core and contrib for Commerce 2.x with a demo of the recent work and Q&A about its capabilities and implementation strategies.

Bio
Bojan Živanović (bojanz) joined Commerce Guys after contributing to Drupal Commerce 1.x in the Google Summer of Code 2010. He was appointed the project lead for Commerce 2.x on Drupal 8 in 2014 and has spearheaded the effort since then. He remained a part of the core team at Commerce Guys when it split from Platform.sh to refocus on Drupal Commerce in 2016.

Load Testing with Realistic User Journeys by Matt Glaman

holingpoon's picture

Writing code that performs well at scale isn't yet second nature for most Drupal developers, but it can be hard to surface the issues real users will face when the heavy traffic comes. Sometimes that requires modeling complex interactions with a site including not just click paths but logins, content creation, checkouts, and other form submissions.

In this session, Matt will explain a recent load testing engagement at Commerce Guys and how working with Docker, Locust.io, and New Relic helped a Drupal Commerce user resolve critical issues prior to Black Friday. The tools are use case agnostic, so while Drupal Commerce was our test case, the same pattern can be used for any type of Drupal site.

Bio
Matt Glaman (mglaman) joined Commerce Guys in 2015 after contributing to Drupal Commerce 1.x on a personal basis while working for two other Drupal related businesses. He co-maintains Commerce 2.x and a wide variety of contributed modules, and he works primarily to help other agencies implement large Commerce 2.x projects successfully. He also remained a part of the core team at Commerce Guys when it split from Platform.sh to refocus on Drupal Commerce in 2016.
