Drupalish Geek Events in Southern California
- Southern California Linux Expo (SCALE) > Next one: Feb 2009. Great meeting for open source geeks. Volunteers ran a Drupal booth in 2008. Plans in worksings for 2009.
- Drupal Camp LA > Next one: ~fall 2009. Annual event hosted by LA Drupal. 2007 over 100 people in attendance. 2008 brought over 400 geeks together at the LA Convention center.
- BarCampLA > Next one: ???
- BarCampSD > Next one: ???
- Drupal Café > Somewhat regular gatherings which started in the Los Angeles area
Southern California Group reboot > A call to group managers
come checkout the new-ish SoCal Drupal group - it's been revamped. like totally. I've redone the homepage and added a "recent" tab. PLUS, I've added "locales" & "skills" that allow for better categorization of posts.
why? as I see it the main goal of the group is twofold:
- to help users in SoCal without formal groups to connect
- to help existing formal groups to find new users and more easily share information with each other, especially events.
Proposal for a Drupal Camp San Diego in early 2009

Introduction
Several of us have been talking (well, actually Karl has been doing most of the talking) about hosting a Drupal Camp in San Diego. It's a fun town, there's a lot of Drupalites in and around the downtown area, and it's only 100 miles striking distance from Los Angeles. The LA DUG folks can come too!
So here's what we propose. Let's get a small contingent of dedicated organizers and see if we can make this happen. Karl has full support from Achieve Internet, Andrew Root will be the Conference Coordinator, and we can even tap the skillz of Beck for production planning and sponsorships. Sound like a plan?

Santa Barbara Drupal Training
Two Days of Drupal Training in Santa Barbara Starting at $150!
Chris Charlton and Laura Scroggins are working together to provide three Drupal training sessions.
March 18: Drupal Basics is a one day training session for new users of open source software Drupal. Participants will learn to install and configure Drupal software, community contributed modules, and Drupal themes. ($300)
March 19 - half-day: Drupal Administration is a half day training program for users and administrators of Drupal software. Participants learn to properly manage a Drupal site with emphasis on back-ups, updates, security, trouble shooting, and best practices. ($150)
March 19 - half-day: Drupal Theming An introduction to Drupal themes including contributed themes, purchased themes, themes you design and outsource, themes that you port to Drupal, and themes you design and implement. ($150)
