Downtown Drupal Meetup via Webcast on June 3, 2014: Show and Tell & DrupalCon Austin Preview

Start:
2014-06-03 19:00 - 21:00 America/Los_Angeles
Organizers:
Event type:
User group meeting

The 1st Tuesday of the month is coming up again and it's time for another Downtown Drupal Meetup! Join us via webcast on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 between 7-9pm Pacific. This meetup is free and there will be food, drinks, and raffle prizes!

Are you new to Drupal or the Downtown Drupal meetup? Come learn about Drupal and how others like yourself are using it for their project, business or organization. We promise not to talk down to you.

At this meetup we're having a DrupalCon Austin Preview and a Drupal Show & Tell. After some quick introductions and light news and announcements, we'll be going into 5-minute presentations (called lightning talks) on what each attendee is working on. Everyone who attends will be expected to present on something.

Did you recently attend a great Drupal or tech event that you want to tell us about? Are you currently having a problem that you need help with? Did you solve a problem recently and now have a solution to share with the group? You'll have up to 5 minutes to present and then up to 5 more minutes for Q&A with the other attendees. We'll be using a chess clock to make sure that everyone has enough time.

That's right, it's like Drupal speed chess! (The difference, of course, is that we're not really competing. We're here to share and learn and not "smack down" anybody.)

SGV / Pasadena Drupal Meetup and Webcast on May 22, 2014: Drupal Hosting Shootout

Start:
2014-05-22 18:00 - 20:00 America/Los_Angeles
Organizers:
Event type:
User group meeting

We have a great meetup this month in the San Gabriel Valley. Join us from 6-8pm at Fuller Theological Seminary, Glasser 110 on Thursday, April 24, 2014, for Drupal news and announcements, local job announcements, raffle prizes, community Q&A, lightning talks and full-length presentations.

This meeting has a featured Drupal Hosting Shootout presentation and discussion. We'll be reviewing various Drupal hosting options, including Acquia, Pantheon, OpenShift, WebEnabled and Platform (which we had a sneek peek of two weeks ago at the Downtown Drupal Meetup).

There's a lot of variety in the Drupal "software as a service" space and we'll also review other people's reviews, including Hosting options for Drupal: Acquia vs Pantheon vs Rackspace Cloud and Best Bang for No Bucks: A Comparison of Free Drupal Hosting Platforms.

Are you new to Drupal or the SGV Drupal meetup? Come learn about Drupal and how others like yourself are using it for their project, business or organization. We promise not to talk down to you. Here's a testimonial from a happy attendee:

This is a very well organized and informative session. We got a good mix of senior developers and new comers and some in between. It is a pretty good turn out with 11 people considering it is in Pasadena right around rush hours. People are just terrific, very friendly and ready to help others. Feels like I have moved forward by leaps and bounds. Thanks everyone!

You are invited to the Droplabs 3-Year Anniversary Party on Friday, May 9, 2013!

Droplabs Los Angeles We've been offering unique, high quality events and affordable coworking and small business services for over 3 years and in 2013 we were recognized as the Top Drupal Location in the world. Come celebrate with us!

Much has happened since we opened to the public in Spring, 2011, and at the start of our party our members will have a brief retrospective and share their favorite moments. We'll also have quick announcements about what we're up to in 2014, including Drupal Commerce Camp and the next Drupal Development Boot Camp.

Don't worry, this event isn't a meetup with boring presentations. There will be plenty of food and drinks, as well as a raffle prize drawing and mingling and networking for most of the evening. The party is potluck-style, so bring something to share that you like to eat or drink. Bring something to share to throw on the grill!
