Integrating CiviCRM for online School Directory
Does anyone have (or know of) experience integrating CiviCRM into a school portal (website), such that students and parents can self-manage their contact information for use by the school and/or school PTO?
Today in Newton Public Schools, we have 21 different school sites, with none of them sharing any user login or contact information between them. My vision is to integrate the 21 sites into a single instance of CiviCRM, so they can share user login and contact information across them.

Does anyone have any experience integrating Drupal with Chancery SMS® (formerly known as Chancery MacSchool)? We're looking at Drupal as one of several potential online school portal solutions and need to know if anyone has successfully connected Drupal and Chancery on the backend to upload/synchronize class lists, homework assignments, grades, attendance, etc.
Read moreGames to improve site stickness - recommended modules
I am looking of a way to increase stickness to my Drupal powered business index.
Light games seem like an interesting option.
Some ideas:
1. Random picture => identify the business.
2. Weekly Polls with Prizes.
3. Crossword / Puzzle module (e.g. like here).
4. Complete tasks to earn points.
Which modules do you recommend?
And do you have other game ideas which encourage stickness?
Thanks in advance,
Amnon

Wiki pages for Public Education case studies, install profiles, etc.
Can we convert Drupal in public education ... discussion thread to wiki pages of case studies? I love the conversation, but find it a little hard to have to scroll top to bottom to see who has posted what. Would it be useful if we create a master wiki page for linking to all case studies and then create a wiki page for each case study? That way it would be easy to read through all of them.

Drupal in public education ...
Greetings!
By day I'm the Webmaster at a mid to large size public school system here in the USA (Frederick County Public Schools, MD). I'm curious to know how many of you out there in Drupal-land are implementing Drupal sites in the public education sector. Some specific questions:
1) Do you support it (server-wise) in house or do you host outside/off campus?
2) Do you host on VPS/dedicated or shared? Linux or Windows?
3) Do you run multi-site configurations?
4) How long have you been running Drupal sites?

So I showed off a veerrrryyy brief presentation of ELMS and the Assignment Studio yesterday but we're working on A LOT of other projects / related projects. So, tonight around 7pm some of us are going to meet up to discuss ELMS and our initiatives at PSU in greater detail. The hope of this discussion is to try and get edu focused developers excited about this direction and start coming up with an attack plan for future development. This product will be available on drupal.org as soon as it's legal (http://drupal.org/project/elms just a name space at the moment and small description).

Glad to see the shift in group focus from DrupalEd distribution to Drupal in Education (including DrupalEd Distro). I think this will help strengthen dialogue among those of us in the education field.
Should/can we also change the group URL? Or does that create linking problems?

Now, I don't mean for this to sound like a plug for a product (cause it's not), I've been developing Drupal modules to help support the development of our e-learning courses at Penn State for the last year now. As things have progressed, our department has begun to pursue making these modules open source. I've been sitting on this stuff for a year now patiently waiting for the right time to start announcing the projects we've been working on and I think many (if not all of them) would be of interest to DrupalEd users.

Hi, I'm leading a project related to the introduction of an Open Source CMS (education, secondary schools). We are testing the "standard" version 5.6 - we tried to customize some test site by introducing selected modules as taxonomy groups in order to define different environments for different user groups (teachers, pupils, parents). i'm actually working and comparing with the DrupalEd version (smashing!). Well, I don't know if anyone can give me some advice on how to build an Italian DrupalEd version. Where to start from?

We recently created a community learning space for a web analytics class at BYU. We directed students to create individual blogs on commercial blogging platforms such as blogspot, wordpress, and elsewhere. We are then using FeedAPI to aggregate the student blogs and comments (see list of student feeds) into the community site.

I am running Drupal 5.6 with multiple sites installed using the standard procedure.
I want to utilise DrupalEd distro as a sub-site of my main personal site. The DrupalEd site will be a seperate area for learning / education / tutorial groups etc.
Can you advise on the wisdom / possibility of / challenges involved in setting up an installation this way?

I just submitted a proposal for a Drupal in Education Birds of a Feather session.
If you are attending the DrupalCon, come on over and read through the proposals, rate the existing proposals, and/or write one of your own.
If you would like to attend the BoF, I have started a list of possible topics to cover in the session description. As I say in the description, given Drupal's flexibility and the differing needs of people working within education, there will be plenty to talk about.

Quiz that shows correct results right after student fill in the form?
Does exist a sort-of Quiz module that shows the student the correct results after he submitted the multiple choice answers (a yes/no, or maybe a choose a,b,c... styles), and automatically adds this answer in his profile?
Moodle has this, but it puts the result inside a personal gradebook, that the student can read from his control panel (what is sort-of a profile).
Thanks in advance for your thoughts and ideas!

DrupalEd 5.6-0 release
Earlier today, Drupal core was upgraded to version 5.6. This is a security release, and all users should upgrade.
For users with existing DrupalEd installs, you only need to upgrade core Drupal -- you do not need to use this specific package.
For new users to DrupalEd, this is the package for you.
Download it here to get started!

Hi all,
It is fantastic to see some others interested in work on a Drupal SCORM module.
At Nine Lanterns we have built an E-Learning Content Authoring System that generates SCORM packages (and other outputs like PDFs etc). The first few versions went through .ASP then .NET, and we are currently porting parts of it to Drupal.
