Make it easier to download DrupalED
I think it would be a good idea to provide a download link to the latest version of DrupalED in the description of this group, and perhaps also in the description of the DrupalED project on d.o. Currently the project page refers to here, but there is no link to be found at first glance.
Read moreResearch tool for categorizing Drupal site content
This semester I've been involved in a research project at BYU studying the effects of using web2.0 tools powered by Drupal in the classroom (See http://isyscore.byu.edu/drupal). Now that our first semester with our pilot site is coming to a close, we're moving into the data gathering / analysis phase of research. To aid our research I've written a tool which let's an research easily categorize content created on a Drupal site.

I was finally able to figure out cvs and upload the writing_assignment module to drupal.org. Link is here:

The code is the same as what I posted last week -- had a really busy week so no coding for me. But at least now there's a proper place for bug reporting/feature requests so have at em.
BTW, the code won't be available for up to 12 hours until Drupal's automatic package creator runs its course.
Read moreI'm interested in DrupalEd, but...
I'm interested in DrupalEd, because I want to integrate some classroom functionality (a gradebook and so on) into my existing Drupal site. I created that site specifically to use as a supplement to my classroom teaching and and as a supplement for students in our journalism program.
Problem is, I've already invested more than a year into producing my current site, so I am leery of adopting a new platform, even if it is Drupal-based.

DrupalEd 5.4 is now out.
This new release incorporates a security upgrade. Although DrupalEd was not affected by the specific conditions that triggered this upgrade, upgrading core is strongly recommended.
This release also incorporates some recent module upgrades. For the full details, read the upgrade_notes.txt file available in the download.
Read moreNew Module: Writing Assignment
Hi everyone. I've been working for several months now on a new social learning module for Drupal called “Writing Assignment.” This module will make it simple for a teacher to assign students to write on a topic and then for the writing to be read, commented on, and rated by other students. I think the code is to a point where I can show it to other people and not feel too embarrassed :>

Read moreassignment modules
any assignment modules already available? I took a look at the quiz module - but that just seems too complicated for an average teacher.
If none available I am working on one with a very simple interface - either open ended questions or multi-choice questions. Everything is stored as a node - so you can create views etc.
If there is sufficient interest I may consider documenting it and publishing it up on drupal.
Or if you have any alternatives - please let me know.
thanks

Read moreAggregation proof of concept site
Hello, all,
As part of some work we're doing, I put together a proof of concept leveraging the functionality within the FeedAPI and Views.
It's a pretty simple site -- all it does is bring in some selected feeds, import any existing tags, and add on some additional tags set on each feed as it is added to the site.
But it starts to get fun when you use views to organize the content based on author, taxonomy, etc --
I was also amazed at how quickly the site came together -- like I said, it's basic, but the basic config came together in about 6 hours.

Help! The blog is driving me nuts, I cannot get it to work properly! As a reminder, my site is set up with a small closed community. Everyone is set up to belong to the organic group for the entire school, plus the organic group for their particular grade. Nearly all of it works the way I want, except the principal's blog. I have it set up so that the blog entries are always in the All-School organic group, because we don't want the general public reading it and I don't see any other way to limit how the entries are viewed.

OK, we've had our site up and running for about two months now. Last week I upgraded the site to the newest version of Drupal and Organic Groups and some other miscellaneous modules. Now I'm having a very serious issue, and I don't know if this was in existence before upgrading or not.
The site is configured for all parents to register and subscribe to the group relating to their students' classrooms. Once subscribed, they have access to those groups, including the assignments, newsletters, class events, class birthdays, etc. All those nodes show up on their respective group pages.
